The women of the 1960s and their 'period bodies' with normal proportions are rare today, and something to be envied.

The fourth season of "Mad Men" starts Sunday, and with it another round of opportunities to both marvel and gasp at how much things have changed since the early 1960s. Much of the genius of the show, of course, lies in its ferocious attention to period details. From the entrenched womanizing and nonstop drinking and smoking (even while pregnant!) to children who play with plastic dry-cleaning bags

Oh yea.... Back when men were men, women were sexataries, and lunches were three martinis long.

Sigh... My dad’s generation had all the fun.

Yup. I am thankful that my parents were not hippies. They attended an ag-oriented university and worked their way through school.

Also, the third one from the bottom - oh boy!

I believe that's Anne Francis.

Also, I think numbers one and two are both Marilyn Monroe (Norma Jean).

No worries. I am quite familiar with the themes that you addressed. Feminists and orthodox Marxists started to merge in the late 1960s and Marxist Feminism grew in the 1970s and basically overtook the feminist movement.

Like you, I prefer natural law!

So much invasive political correctness revolves around female self image these days, makes my stomach turn!

Yes, but men are being hit by this pervasive “ideal body” propaganda, too. It is not as bad as women, though, unless you are homosexual. It is creating narcissism to such a degree, that government officials can get away with doing almost anything and no one notices cuz they are too busy looking in the mirror.

I have watched it since it started and love it-——it is my generation that is depicted and it makes me realize how
much things have changed.

I haven’t gotten into Mad Men, but Breaking Bad is just about the best show on TV. Some narrow minded weaklings may bemoan the fact it involves around drugs, but the fact of the matter is it is a morality tale. An illustration if you will of the old adage “the road to hell is paved with good intentions”.

I like Sons of Anarchy too. My first impression was a modern version of Hamlet.

Its the gurly manmetro sexual culture. It falls exactly into the very paraeters you so elegatly described. These are real men, for example, his photo of a GI in France a couple of days after D day.We need their kind more than ever now, and we can only hope there are enough of them left here at home:

D Day France

The creator is gay and...

There's no evidence that series creator Matthew Weiner is gay. He has been married for almost 20 years and he and his wife have four children.

While that's not proof he is straight, it is certainly evidence that he is straight. There's no evidence that he is gay.

Mad Men isn't as good as a lot of folks say it is.

Marxists move and infiltrate everything that involves forming public policy and opinions.
