Bristol Palin and Levi Johnston reveal exclusively in the new Us Weekly that they are getting married.

And, they tell Us Weekly, former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin has been kept in the dark about their plans ... until now.

"We got engaged two weeks ago," Bristol, 19, tells Us Weekly. "It felt right, even though we don’t have the approval of our parents."

Bristol is truly young and stupid; she already knows the character of Levi, which is to say the least not good. Successful marriage is based on trust and she is now engaged to someone she knows for a fact cannot be trusted. I feel bad for her, she is headed down a rocky path with him. I do not in any way blame her parents for her lack of judgement, there are so many outside influences on children now that the parents can only do and say so much.

That is one beautiful baby boy though, no doubt about it.

Hey, is there any pools started yet on the over/under of when they split again? I’ll put $10 on November 27th if it’s open.

"This is a family matter and, really, none of our business. "

Really? I have a family, and none of us have ever sold our "love story" to a magazine for a FRONT PAGE exclusive.

It seems to me that they very intentionally want to make their lives everyone's business.

Two of Ronald Reagan’s kids were immature and leftist useful idiots to boot. And at the time they were both older than Bristol is now. But it didn’t seem to get in the way of his ability to lead our nation.

Except that Bristol is no longer living in the Palin household.

She's been living on her own in Anchorage and working at a local dentist's office for some time now.

And she's 19 years old...and no long Sarah and Todd's responsibility.

I understand where you are coming from, but I had a good upbringing & still managed to do my fair share of stupid stuff.

Plus how do you explain Ron Reagan Jr.? ;)

Yeah, like that has never happened before.

Of course it's happened before. I've just never seen anybody use circumstances like this for riches, fame or political gain.

It doesn’t make me feel one bit different about Sarah’s abilities (reference Reagan). But it does give me pause about her ability to navigate the ridicule that is sure to follow. I thought we were past this.

Now that's a good point. And the media's attempt to exploit it on him didn't work, either.

But Palin is no Reagan.

Not by a long shot. She rises to the bait each and every time.

It must have been slim pickens at the Anchorage dentist’s office.

Just joking. Actually, I worked and lived in Alaska for awhile and there are so many available men there you can’t beat them off with a stick and I didn’t try.

He has pretty much just ruled out every GOP president in my lifetime - not to mention almost everyone mentioned as a future potential nominee.

-Reagan had a nutso daughter and gay liberal nut son.
-Bush I had a party animal son who was an alcoholic and has hinted at other such discretions.
-Bush II had a daughter who also was notorious for (let us politely say) “Overdoing it” at the bars.
-Nixon’s daughters have fought with each other so publicly it is pretty much the example of how to divide siblings in a family.

Let's not even get into Jeb’s daughter, Meghan McCain,..............etc............

This is perhaps the outright stupidest criticism of Sarah Palin I have ever heard, and I have heard some whoppers.

To a large degree I agree that it is a family matter and should be handled as such with dignity as the family deems appropriate.

However the “Clan of Wasilla” have never been shy around the media it seems and uses them from many angles. Just my take and the best to the couple. I think Bristol relizes that and made a statement in another article I read early today but can’t find now. It basically said if hadn’t been for the publicity the family got in 08 that she and Levi would be married, living in a small apt and Levi would still be working on the North Slope.

Bristol is 19, lives in her own apartment and pays her own bills. She makes her own decisions and because she’s young(like most of us were) she will make some good decisions and some bad ones (like we all have). Is Sara supposed to hire a PI to follow her ADULT child around and report back to her? Just how do you expect her to “manage” the life of a child who lives on her own? And why should she? Bristol needs to learn these lessons as we all do.

Perhaps you and your family are just perfect but most are not. I had one son who challenged us constantly, got into trouble (spent a good part of his life grounded) and made a number of absolutely stupid mistakes when he first got out on his own. And even for a few years later. My youngest was a dream child...my reward for raising his older brother, lol. He was disciplined out of the womb. Probably why he chose the Marine Corps. Both my boys are wonderful people, one just needed to learn the hard way. If I tried to “manage” every situation he would never learn anything.

How much control did Reagan have over his ADULT children? Perhaps he shouldn’t have been elected either because he obviously couldn’t “manage” his adult children living on their own either. Knowing the hay the press will make of this and the way people like you are passing judgment on her fitness as a leader (Lord knows how she’s managed to have challenging jobs and raise a family with it’s challenges up to this point). As every mother knows, there comes a point where you have to “let go and let God”. Especially when your child IS LIVING ON HER OWN PAYING HER OWN BILLS.
