Four cups of coffee a day may keep certain cancers away.
A new study involving a Utah researcher found caffeinated coffee may protect drinkers from cancers of the oral cavity and pharynx.
Regular coffee drinkers defined as four cups or more a day reduce their risk of the cancers by 39 percent, according to a study published Tuesday by the American Association for Cancer Research.
Huntsman Cancer Institute investigator Mia Hashibe was involved in the effort to pool results from nine studies, collected by the International Head and Neck Cancer Epidemiology consortium, which led to the findings.
According to a news release by the American Association for Cancer Research, other recent research has linked coffee with lower cancer risks:
Those who drank five or more cups of coffee a day had a reduced risk of brain tumors known as gliomas.
Men who drank six cups or more a day had a 60 percent lower risk of aggressive prostate cancer than men who didnt drink any coffee.

I’ve got mine.
And congrats on the road. I couldn’t log in yesterday.
The hard drinking, smoking, coffee drinking side of my family seems to live the longest.
My dad died of prostate cancer, my father in law from a glioma.
I wish those two word-of-wisdom keepers would have known these benefits of coffee instead of following a false prophet.
From the Salt Lake tribune, no less.
And more beer = ????
Headaches, ugly dates, and more children..
Can we deduct what we spend at Starbucks as a medical expense?
It’s strange that caffeine is beneficial to us, because it apparently was developed by plants as an insecticide. The same is probably true of other plant compounds which seem to be good for people, like cinnamon, mustard, horseradish, essential oils in mints, etc. Some of these are effective against other enemies of plants like fungi, bacteria, nematodes, etc.
Great to hear from you today!
And one other thing regarding Zion Closure. When I went down to vote yesterday at Orderville town hall, there happened to be six women sitting there, handling the registration etc. For the first time in twelve years they all rushed up to me with open arms, hugged me and thanked me for leading the charge against the road closure.
All of their husbands are in one way or another leaders in the community but are all typical humble little Mormon men, cowering in the corner, afraid to take on authority.
Have you ever noticed that? Is it that obedience thing that makes so many of them weak?
Four cups is a lot of coffee, that’s a lot of caffien and stress on the heart, my guess is 4+ cups also has it’s downside, that’s why these kinds of studies are stupid
I hear that is not uncommon in Southern Utah.
Beer? Last night it was Tequila that got me going for the coffee this morning. And at my age the dating has slowed down although you are right about the ugly ones. They appreciate it so much more.
Glad my significant other doesn’t frequent FR. LOL
Mine would look like that too, except I have one of those women in my life for 45 years that picks up the cup before it hits the counter.
And why would they be closing Zion? Is it the state of the feds?
SWEET .... based on this I’m totally cancer proofed (pot ‘o day of the blackwine)
Or the feds!
