Just from personal experience, beware of cheap scopes. Sure, if you have an inexpensive gun you play with like a toy, a cheapy is all you need. But if this is one of your baby’s, don’t go cheap.

I see Leaper stuff all over the gun shows, the general review is that they aren’t very good.
Now, you don’t need to spend $1000 for an AR scope. I’m about to pull the trigger (Hah!) on a Leupold AR series scope (3-9x40mm) for my carbine. About $300, prolly not made in the USA but it has a Leupold warranty.
A $300 scope is probably a good starting point for an AR.

I have always been sorry for even wasting my time mounting and sighting in a cheap scope , but I have friends who are happy as pigs in muck with them . Scopes are such a personal choice , you just about have to learn by trial and error . I have benefited from the rush to new fangled scopes, by standing around asking what my shooting partners were going to do with that old Leupold , now that they have mounted a Lickemhoffski with Bullet drop , infrared, laser guided, electric start, prairie dog death ray, with latte dispenser .

General advice, which I’m sure others here will echo: don’t wast your time on cheap optics - not worth your money - or your life. It’s worth $300-400 to get a quality AR-15 sight.

My 2 cents...That’s $65 you’ll wish you’d spent on a $2-300 scope later. I bought a Leupold. Very happy with it.

It’s meant for an Airsoft gun from what I gather by looking around at the accessories.

Buy once, cry once! It took a while for that lesson to sink in, but I finally learned it. Don’t skimp on optics...you will be sorry. You can buy a GOOD scope for around $300.

I have bought and used a lot of cheap scopes during my life. They simply do not stand up to a lot of use, and they tend to fail during extreme conditions, which can be quite embarrassing, annoying, and even dangerous.
I have found that I need to spend about as much on the glass as I do on the gun.
Burris is about the low end of where I start shopping now.

The reason why scopes like Leupold, Unertl, Swarovski are expensive isn’t because they’re name brands.
The reason they’re expensive is because good optics cost money.
High quality optical glass can be as much as $1000 per kilogram.
Add in polishing, coating, superfine reticles, micro-adjustment turrets, airtight and watertight tubes, and inert gas stabilization. Then design and assemble it to stand up repeatedly to thousands of high G shocks.
And now you know why a sub $100 scope is suspect.

I’ve been happy with my Pentax Gameseeker 3-9x40 scope .
It included a chart for 18-21 different cartridges.
Stay bitter and clingy!

Nikon has a new scope for ARs coming out that has peaked my interest. I admit to having been drawn in by this video, but I have not heard anything good nor bad about the scope. I will be investigating further.

A good 4x scope with stadia markers and a DOPE card should be more than enuf for your AR 15.
Woking up the data for your DOPE card is half the fun at the range - yes?

I can't find very much information on the red dot optics.
Does anybody know first hand information?

If you put a $75 scope on your rifle, you have a $75 rifle. Scrimp on the rifle. Don’t scrimp on the scope.
