Introduction

The following is just my opinion. It is nothing more than my opinion. I have nothing to substantiate or prove any aspect of my opinion. My opinion is simply the logical conclusion of a law-abiding sixty-year old Christian grandfather who has both an engineering degree and an M.B.A. degree and who has seen both good times and hard times during his life.

The Current Situation:

At the present time every nation in the entire world is facing serious financial and social stress. If only a few nations were involved then it might be possible to contain the upcoming meltdown to a few specific geographical areas. This has been successfully done in the past. However, since the entire world is currently on the edge of the cliff, when the meltdown begins it will impact almost everyone on the face of the earth.

Unless God chooses to intervene, the meltdown is no longer avoidable. Our governments and our financial institutions are no longer in control. However, to keep the system working just a little longer they must maintain the illusion that they have the system under control. But the system is broken and it can't be fixed.

There are two reasons why the system can't be fixed:

1. It has grown beyond its own capacity to support itself.
2. It has become so complex that no one can do anything significant to fix it because it is hemorrhaging in too many different places.

The average person in every nation on the face of the earth knows the meltdown is coming. The wealthy people know it. The poor people know it. Nobody wants it to happen. But almost everyone is just patiently waiting for it to begin and at the same time hoping that it doesn't begin too soon.

Nobody knows when the meltdown will actually start. It may begin one-month from now. Or a year from now. Or three-years from now.

But almost everyone knows that at some future date the meltdown will occur.

This widespread knowledge of the impending disaster is the reason that when the disaster begins it will quickly and completely spiral out-of-control in one-hour or less. In my opinion, most people do not seriously believe it could happen this quickly. Most people expect a more gradual meltdown. They may be right because nobody can predict the future, and that includes myself.

The One-Hour Meltdown

However, my personal opinion is that once the meltdown begins then in less than one-hour it will quickly escalate far beyond anyone's ability to control or manage it on a worldwide basis. The five basic assumptions that cause me to believe in my "one-hour meltdown theory" are as follows:

1. Banks: The financial institutions around the world cannot withstand a full-scale worldwide bank run. Therefore, they have already made plans to immediately shut down the instant they are told to do so. Within minutes, all across the globe, all the ATM machines will be offline, all credit card and debit card verification transactions will be halted, and all banks will have their vaults locked and their doors locked and their building emptied of all personnel, except perhaps for some special security guards. All high-level bank executives will immediately disappear to a wide variety of remote safe unknown locations. All telephone call inquiries to any of the financial institutions will be automatically answered by a computer with a pre-recorded message similar to the following: "Our system is currently experiencing an extremely high call volume and therefore we are unable to answer your call at this time. Please try again later when our call volume returns to normal."

2. Governments: The vast majority of our government leaders all over the world are relatively intelligent individuals. They completely understand the ramifications of a "bank holiday" in our computer controlled financial economy. Therefore, all government offices will also be immediately shut down, and they will empty their buildings and lock their doors. Any transaction in progress, including any trials in progress, will be immediately halted and postponed until some future date. All high-level government officials, including all judges and tax officials, will immediately disappear to a wide variety of remote safe unknown locations.

3. Retail Businesses: Since they will be unable to process even simple transactions, all retail establishments, both large and small, will immediately lock their doors to prevent anyone else from entering. If possible, they will complete any transactions for customers already inside their building if those customers have enough cash to pay for their purchases. Any customers wishing to pay by check or credit card or debit card will be told that the verification system is down and their transaction can't be completed. All customers will then be immediately escorted to the doors and the doors will be briefly opened and then immediately locked after they exit. In addition, in a manner similar to what happened during the World Trade Center meltdown, each store's management may demand that their employees remain at their stations until further notice or they will lose their jobs for leaving without management's permission. But most of the more intelligent employees will leave at the same time as the store's last few remaining customers. The store's special security guards may or may not remain behind in order to protect the store with their lives. Since most of these special security guards are not paid exceptionally well, a large number of them may decide that they should return home and protect their own families instead.

4. Criminals: Anyone and everyone who has any criminal tendencies and who has been patiently waiting for this to happen will immediately see it as a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to improve their financial situation. More than likely the vast majority of these criminals have already made very detailed plans that includes exactly which businesses they are going to rob first, second, third, and so on. Any business with a reasonable level of cash-on-hand will be very high on every criminal's list. Every jewelry store and pawn shop that has any type of silver or gold jewelry, or precious stones (diamonds, rubies, emeralds, etc.), will be very high on everyone's list. The warfare that breaks out at these establishments between competing criminals will not be pleasant.

5. Normal People: Normal average people will begin looting. Grocery stores will be broken into and they will be completely emptied from wall-to-wall, including the rear storage area, in less than one-hour. Stores that have firearms, ammunition, appliances, clothing, shoes, or anything else needed by the average citizen will be emptied in less than one-hour. In skirmishes over the few remaining resources, normal average people will begin killing one another inside the stores, and in the parking lots outside the stores, and on the streets as these fully loaded vehicles try to escape with their loot.

The above events will all happen simultaneously during the first one-hour of the meltdown. After that first hour has passed, things will really begin to get nasty. Everyone will quickly realize there are not are not enough law enforcement personnel to protect everyone and everything. Although the military will probably be ordered to protect specific high priority establishments and resources, there will simply not be enough military personnel to protect individual civilians or businesses.

I challenge you to find me, who am I, where do I live, etc etc. In reading my posts much could be gained about me, but I doubt if anyone (except the government) could get the information needed....but what if I was lying, maybe I am a compulsive liar. No sons and no gold.. :O)

I understand what you are saying about giving out too much information on oneself. And you are probably right, much easier access to precious metals can be had by easier means than trying to find one person out of hundreds of thousands...try a local jewelry store. Not all of them have state of the art protection..

I am not being snarky, it is an interesting plot to think about....but anyone smart enought to do it better not forget about owning guns and being a good shot. Perhaps guard dogs, by finding out about me, would that insure you would find out about any family members...

You are a genius, I would never have thought of a bidet.

On the one we use to have, it came with plastic bags that attached to the toilet seat and then it was the kids job to bury the bags. Bags were used only for #2.

I prefer toilet paper, but in the days of outhouses, they also used the Sears Roebuck catalog....As a child I used outhouses, don't recommend anyone build one...P U .

When using the portable, just make sure your set on level ground.

I thought there just might be some kind of chemical (or pill) one could use to purify water...I am not too smart on that kind of stuff. I gather that there is nothing simple to use....An RV system seems like it would be kind of complicated for me....(being of a ripe old age and anything beyond (simple) wouldn’t be a good choice for me..<P.

I am so far over the hill, I cannot ever see the rise anymore... but thank you for the information...

Just plain old chlorine bleach will do in a pinch, goat granny. Make sure it's the usual household 5.25% chlorine and unscented. There are plenty of online resources for the percentage.

I like my meltdowns on grilled rye, with pepperjack and lots of sauteed onions. Side of fries, slaw, big dill pickle, cold Sam Adams...mmmmmm, I'll take that meltdown any day.

Of course, after the real meltdown, I may never see one of those again.

Methods of chlorine treatment:
Bleach: Ordinary household bleach (such as Clorox) in the US contains 5.25% sodium
hypochlorite (NaOCL) and can be used to purify water if it contains no other active ingredients,
scents, or colorings. Bleach is far from an ideal source due to its bulkiness (only 5% active
ingredient), and the instability over time of the chlorine content in bleach. Chlorine loss is farther
increased by agitation or exposure to air. One source claims chlorine loss from a 5% solution at
10% over 6 months if stored at 70° F. Nevertheless, this may be the only chemical means
available to purify water, and it is far better than nothing. Normal dosage is 8 drops (0.4 ml) per
gallon. Allow the treated water to sit for 30 min., and if there isn’t a slight chlorine smell, retreat.
Note: USP standard medicine droppers are designed to dispense 0.045-0.055 ml per drop. Use of
other solvents or some chemicals can change this. The dropper can be calibrated against a
graduated cylinder for greater accuracy.
Some small treatment plants in Africa produce their own sodium hypochlorite on site from the
electrolysis of brine. Power demands range from 1.7 to 4 kWh per lb. of NaOCL. 2 to 3.5 lbs. of
salt are needed for each pound of NaOCL. These units are fairly simple and are made in both the
US and the UK. Another system, designed for China, where the suitable raw materials were
mined or manufactured locally, used a reaction between salt, manganese dioxide, and sulfuric
acid to produce chlorine gas. The gas was then allowed to react with slaked lime to produce a
bleaching powder that could then be used to treat water. A heat source is required
to speed the reaction up.
AquaCure: Designed for the South African military, these tablets contain chlorine and alum.
The alum causes the suspended solids to flocculate and the chlorine adds 8 PPM chlorine. This is
a great way to treat turbid water, though it will leave a lot of chlorine in clear water (The one
tablet/liter could be halved for clear water.)

Bleaching Powder (Chlorinated Lime): Can also be purchased and used as a purification means
if nothing else is available. Bleaching powder is 33-37% chlorine when produced, but losses its
chlorine rapidly, particularly when exposed to air, light or moisture.
Calcium Hypochlorite: Also known as High Test Hypochlorite (HTH). Supplied in crystal
form, it is nearly 70% available chlorine. One product, the Sanitizer (formally the Sierra Water
Purifier) uses these crystals to superchlorinate the water to insure pathogens were killed off, then
hydrogen peroxide is added to drive off the residual chlorine. This is the most effective method
of field chlorine treatment. The US military and most aid agencies also use HTH to treat their
water, though a test kit, rather than superchlorination, is used to insure enough chlorine is added.
This is preferable for largescale systems as the residual chlorine will prevent recontamination.

Usually bulk water treatment plants first dilute to HTH to make a 1% working solution at the rate
of 14g HTH per liter of water. While testing to determine exact chlorine needs are preferable, the
solution can be used at the dose rate of 8 drops/gallon, or for larger quantities, 1 part of 1%
solution to 10,000 parts clear water. Either of these doses will result in 1 PPM

I moved out of the suburbs in 1985 to a farm...the water was hard and the smell was not that great, but got use to it...then I moved to a small town that used Detroit city water...To me, being used to hard water, the city water had a strong smell of chlorine. It reminded me of our swimming pool water from the burbs....I have made another move and have a water softener, it still has an odor but not like the farm with no water softener. I did find out if you fill a gallon with well water and refrigerate it, the smell is gone (the water breathes) and the water taste great.

I decided I didn't like drinking swimming pool water...and like you say, the water had to be tested and the chlorine was dissipated quickly.

But in emergency situations, chlorine would not be bad to add for safety...T Y for the info...

I am glad hurricanes are something I don't have to worry about, just tornado's.

Guess my thoughts about it are that with tornadoes you have very little warning and not much time to prepare or get out of the way. With a hurricane, we can usually track them over several days if not weeks, usually have a pretty good idea of where and when they will hit with some time to get the heck out of Dodge when it is coming our way.

Some information won’t flow down quickly or efficiently, and not everything will be orchestrated. Banks maybe, but retail will be much more chaotic.

The goal is to accomplish the devaluation and resultant increase in prices and then wages and then taxes with control. The rate will be such that the pressure will be relieved before economic vessel explodes.

The process of collapse will take a bit longer to materialize into anarchy than the writer states. It will however be really bad in the large cities, then 'matriculate' to the suburbs and eventually, if not halted by massive intervention, ooze to the countrysides and rural enclaves. The 'Jericho' state of survival is a writer's fantasy. The highways will become looter's alley.

I believe the world economic crisis is an artificially devised way for the most powerful banking powers to seize world control. As such they will have a banking system ready for implimentation when the crisis becomes bad enough to have all major governments begging for a unification to solve the mayhem and anarchy. ... If one reads Daniel, and Revelations, the data is forecaste to ponder. It is coming sooner rather than later. We are in the end times.
