She might as well advocate being allowed to marry the pet poodle. Just as illegitimate.

So you agree with those that want to force their perverted morality on the rest of society? No one was beating down the doors of these perverted people but their agenda is to force people to have to accept their perversions.

They should leave our lives and our childrens lives alone!!!! Stop their fascist agenda to force their perverted morality on others in society. There is no right to have others aassociate with them or to accept their perverted behvior.

Laura Bush just lost some of the respect I had for her.

Only because it is one more piece of the puzzle which explains the Bush administration and why he pandered to Teddy Kennedy and Bill Clinton plus undercutting Republicans all across the country who had contributed to his campaign, voted for him, and wore out a lot of shoe leather on his behalf. Here is a post which I wrote several years ago and for which I drew considerable flak at the time. I doubt I will receive much flak for the same post today:

The problem with George Bush is that he is not primarily a conservative, he is primarily a Christian, and he does not have a calculus that is congruent with yours or mine, even though both of us might be Christians. George Bush sees partisan politics as petty and ultimately meaningless. We see partisanship as the indispensable stuff of freedom. At election time the Bushes will hold their nose and dip into partisanship. But it is not in their essential nature to wage war for tactical political advantage.

George Bush wants what Bill Clinton wanted: To fashion a legacy. He does not want to be remembered as the man who cut a few percentage points from an appropriation bill but as the man who reshaped Social Security. I've come to the conclusion that the Bushes see politics as smarmy, fetid. It must be indulged in if one is to practice statesmanship but it is statesmanship alone that that is worthy as a calling.

They are honest, they are loyal, they are patrician. There would've been admired and respected if had lived among the founding fathers. But it is Laura Bush and Momma Bush who really and truly speak for the family and who tell us what they are thinking and who they are. There's not a Bush woman who does not believe in abortion. They believe in family, they live in loyalty, they believe in the tribe, but they do not believe in partisan politics.

I believe it is time for us to decide no longer to be used by the Bush family as useful idiots and instead to begin to use the Bushes as our useful idiots . I say this with the utmost admiration and respect for everything the Bushes stand for. Who would not be proud beyond description to have a father or an uncle who was among the first and youngest of naval aviators to fight in the Pacific and to be twice shot down. Not a stain or blemish of corruption or personal peccadillo has touched the family(except for the brother whom I believe was cleared of bank charges). They are the living embodiment of all that is good and noble in the American tradition.

But they are not conservative.

I don’t disagree with her particularly, but I would prefer to see the word “marriage,” reserved for the religious bond (and therefore each religion gets to decide who can be “married” within their church) while all anyone, gay or straight, can get from the state is a domestic partnership agreement.

It will not stop at gay marriage.

Polygamy will follow, and rightly so. If gays can marry, why should any man be limited to one wife.

Then, brothers and sisters, and heck, if you love a 14 year old, why should that be a problem?

I certainly would not belittle or punish any gay, but marriage, in my opinion, is a moral gage on our society.

So gay marriage is a "generational" thingy aye?

The next question to pose to Laura is how does she feel about people having sex with animals. Is that going to be a generational thing as well? How about pedophiles, that is their "orientation" do they get "rights" as well?

The bottom line Laura: Where do you get your "moral" code from??

She hedged, She said she thinks that gay people should have the same rights (they do). She also said she thinks that "we (presumably the country) could" accept gay marriage. Not real clear.

I disagree with her that we could, or that we should if that is her position.

Her husband disagrees with her.

You are skipping an important detail.

The issue is not whether gays can marry. The issue is whether government funds should go to gays who marry.

I’m for happy marriage too. Sodomites can’t be married, if that’s what you’re talking about. A muslim can’t be a Christian, two men can’t be married.

Laura Bush is now and always has been a trendy-set liberal. Even in those days after 9/11 she was advocating weakness by condemning the “Wanted Dead or Alive” slogan for Osama bin Laden. It was too violent-sounding for little Miss Bush who seemed to have forgotten the scope of the crime.
