I don’t disagree with her particularly, but I would prefer to see the word “marriage,” reserved for the religious bond (and therefore each religion gets to decide who can be “married” within their church) while all anyone, gay or straight, can get from the state is a domestic partnership agreement.

Cammie, you simply don’t get it.

The homosexual Community wants parity in every way with normal people. A “domestic union” has been approved in many states - New Jersey is one of them. But even here they want their relationships to be recognized as a MARRIAGE - just like normal people.

Because to their way of thinking, their lifestyle IS normal. That is why they want your kids to read “Susie Has Two Mommies” in school. That is why they try to force themselves into St. Patric’s Day Parades. And that is why we need to stop pretending that what they do is normal or desirable. What people want to do in the privacy of their own homes is their business, but they have no right asking us to approve it.

Agreed mostly :-). I wouldn’t let a single law redefine the meaning of a word. Before you know it, there will be lawsuits and referendums on the definitions of “liberty” and “individual”.

The only other choice, as you mentioned, is to take marriage out of the Government’s vernacular. Seriously, why should the government use a religious term to define a domestic partnership?

It seems the left is all for the separation of church and state except when it comes to gay marriage. I seriously think these moonbats WANT a legal precedence for the redefinition of a word. /tin foil hat off :-)!
