The destruction of a Russian hideout at SHAPE headquarters near Paris; the planned assassination of a Cuban thug in America; the tracking of a heroin ring from Rome to Venice and beyond; for Bond it is just routine. For anyone else - certain death.

Ian Fleming was the Mickey Spillane of spy novels.
I went Scuba diving on the reefs and imagined.... well when I came up my wife was on her chaise lounge and I dripped water on her. She was/still is my beauty!
This was also one of the best James Bond films. One HELL of an improvement over Moonraker :-). I know the books/movies have little to do with one another :-)!
I would like to visit Goldeneye in Jamaica.
Please a geriatric Bond gets pursued by a bad guy and gets laid by a Chanel model but is saved by the Fiddler on the roof dude who likes Pistachio’s ..

You leave Topol / Dr. Zarkov out of this dammit!!!! :-P You also forgot about the 16 or 17 year old ice skater who was in love with him. Still, despite those flaws, I still enjoy that movie overall. It sure as hell beats those idiotic piles of garbage Brosnan was in.
Roger Moore didn’t look that bad in that movie and I thought he wasn’t too bad in Octopussy either.
Timothy Dalton’s first role should have been “A View to a Kill” though :-)! Why people hated him as James Bond is beyond me. It wasn’t his fault he was surrounded by piss poor acting in “License to Kill” :-).
I friggin’ love Maurice Binder’s opening credits to all of the Bond films he worked on. This and “The Spy who Loved Me” were the absolute best. He also did the opening credits to “The Sea Wolves” as well as many other films. I believe he also created the Bond “gun barrel” introduction and took a “flat payment” over royalties for that.
Prior to his death in, I think, 1994, he did all of the title sequences except for “From Russia with Love” (THE BEST BOND FLICK EVER) and “Goldfinger”.
I kind of liked the title sequence in “Casino Royale”, but that theme song for “Quantum of Solace” made my ears bleed. Still, nothing matches what that man did to kick off a Bond film. Nobody did it better :-)!
“The movie “Quantum of Solace” has nothing to do with the short story ...”
Sorry if you misundersood me, but I know the titles of the movies rarely had anything to do with the books/stories. “Live and Let Die”, the film, was based, in part, on an Ian Fleming short story called “007 in New York”.
As far as the QoS movie is concerned, I disliked it at first, but it has grown on me. It suffered from a bad director if you ask me. I thought very highly of “Casino Royale” and it has that Bond feel to it ... I see your point about QoS, but let’s say I dislike it less after seeing it a few times.
I haven’t a clue as to how the Bourne movies did so well. I *tried* to like them, but they’re friggin’ weak.
I drove by back in the 90s ... up in the hills ...likely a great view ... a modest place
.
Who could forget Bibi Dahl? :)
However, the movie was based on elements from the short stories.
Solange was the only thing taken from “007 in New York”. in fact the novel LALD is so old the airport Bond arrives at is called Idlewind. The open sentance from LALD talks about Bond arriving in New York.:)
Dalton would have been in “Property of a Lady” but UA was tied up with Sony over McClory attempting to sell “rights” to the Bond franchise.
Yeah i forgot about her and i always liked Timothy Dalton as Bond, but they just had to have Pierce.....
Hated Octopussy liked a view to a kill because Walken was in it..
Who could forget Bibi Dahl? :)
Trust me i have tried i can still hear that annoying voice..
