An airplane that towed banners taunting Tiger Woods about his sex scandal during the Masters has been ordered to stop until it undergoes minor repairs.

Kathleen Bergen, an Atlanta-based spokeswoman for the Federal Aviation Administration, said Friday that FAA flight safety inspectors issued the order after meeting with the plane's pilot.

The single-engine Cessna made two flights near Augusta National as Woods played Thursday in the first round of the Masters, close enough that the banners could be read from the course.

Tiger said he didn’t see the banner when asked about it at the presser after yesterday’s round.

You’re right but they’ve got a lot of rich members and I’d guess some with a lot of influence.

The same thing happened to the plane that was flying the “Impeach Clinton” banner at the Super Bowl those many years ago.

Old FReepers will remember the fund raising drive here on FR. I must have gotten ten people to donate to that worthy cause.

That sure brings back memories!

Tiger now runs the FAA???....or did Obama make a call...from his Chicago Thug Office....

I'd guess the membership of Agusta National. Those guys have a hell of a lot of pull.

Thanks, I didn’t know a thing about that, sounds like the same type deal to shut ‘em down.

I'm hoping he takes a whoopin'...I'd rather watch class acts with a little lower scores than a class a**.

I watched for a few minutes yesterday. After Woods hit a shot he walking down the fairway to applause.

I couldn't help but wonder what they were applauding.

I would really like to ask all those guys who were applauding "Why? What are you applauding for? Is it because he cheated? Is it because he bedded several women?" I would really like to know.

What happened to free speech.

Who was denied free speech? If I recall correctly, the plane was able to fly its entire route without interference? So what is your problem with that?

If one is going to pull a grandstand stunt like this then you had better have all your ducks in a row and all your t's crossed and I's dotted.

The guy who paid for the service got exactly what he paid for. Unfortunately the add agency was the messenger who got shot.........

I imagine the PGA wasn’t real happy about those messages. :-)

I'm guessing that a member of the Board at Augusta National probably place a phone call during which the plane's tail numbers were given to the FAA official.

Sure do. Despite his faults, Clinton never really interfered with the protesters from FR. He did at first, like in your example above and down in Texas when the USSS 'corralled' FReepers into an area surrounded by chain-link fence. After the bad press he got from the Texas incident, he respected our right to redress our complaints directly.

The banner in question:

Stop it, STOP IT ... all of you! You're all acting like a bunch of racists! < /sarc>

Can't you ignore skin color ... like Tiger does?!

My question is why even bother and waste money with such silliness over one man’s foolishness?

Why single out Tiger for ridicule when Wilt Chamberlain, Charlie Sheen, Gene Simmons, Julio Iglesias, Jack NIcholson, Eric Clapton, Magic Johnson, and Bill Wyman all claim thousands of encounters?

I don't think the PGA is REALLY happy about Tiger...period.

I imagine they were on their knees begging Tiger to come back and play The Masters.

Because none of them built a market image of wholesomeness. Tiger created an image, and sold that image for a lot of money, and it turned out to be BS. And he’s still selling BS with the whole “sex addict” thing. If he’d been upfront about who he is like the people in your list nobody would care, but when you sell yourself as Mr Clean people will find it interesting that you’re actually Mr Smut.
