Sting isn’t just singing to save the rainforests – he’s also joining in to help save the earth. Before performing at the Rainforest Benefit Concert in May, this month the singer is participating in Earth Day 2010 Climate Rally.

This year’s Earth Day takes place April 25 with the 40th anniversary celebration going down right where things first got started four decades ago, at The National Mall in Washington D.C. The event will include live music, speeches and eco-village exhibits.

In addition to Sting, supporters will also enjoy performances by artists including John Legend, The Roots, Bob Weir, Patrick Stump, Mavis Staples, Passion Pit, Q-Tip and Booker T.

Sting’s wife and Rainforest Fund co-founder Trudie Styler will also be there along with other environmental stewards including Reverend Jesse Jackson, film director James Cameron, Olympic gold medalist Billy Demong and author Margaret Atwood.

"Forty years after the first Earth Day, we are joined by some of today's most influential artists and thought-leaders around the world with a clear agenda for Earth Day's 40th Anniversary," said Kathleen Rogers, President, Earth Day Network. "Together, we will issue the call to our elected leaders to take action that will equitably and effectively address climate change."

Supporters can get involved in the days leading up to the big celebration by participating in service projects, advocacy events, performance arts and exhibits taking place April 17-25 across the U.S.

A variety of events are scheduled from participating in the Las Vegas Cleanup April 17 as volunteers recycle trash to keep it out of Lake Mead to attending the an Environmental Education Fair in Smithfield, R.I.

The Earth Day Network and its partners are also planning large-scale tree plantings, school greenings, music events and exhibitions around the world from Rabat, Morocco; to Tokyo to Kolkata, India.

I was once asked by an enviro-whacko how I was going to spend Earth Day. I told him I was going to have a big mac and hope that I was responsible for the destruction of at least a square mile of rain forest. He looked like he was about to cry.

We celebrate Lenin’s birthday in DC and have are troops parade in Red Square. We have ushered in Socialized Medicine for all and are about to adopt the Value Added Tax (VAT) on all transactions.

The old guard Soviets would be proud to see what’s become of this nation.

...but Lake Mead is man-made! Shouldn’t eco-whackos be screaming about it?

If you add “y” to Sting’s name, he becomes “Stingy.”

The Ballad of Lenin’s Tomb

And there was Lenin, stiff and still, a symbol and a sign,
And rancid races come to thrill and wonder at his Shrine;
And hold the thought: if Lenin rot the Soviets will decay;
And there he sleeps and calm he keeps his watch and ward for aye.
Yet if you pass that frame of glass, peer closely at his phiz,
So stern and firm it mocks the worm, it looks like wax . . . and is.
They tell you he’s a mummy - don’t you make that bright mistake:
I tell you - he’s a dummy; aye, a fiction and a fake.
This eye beheld the bloody bomb that bashed him on the bean.
I heard the crash, I saw the flash, yet . . . there he lies serene.
And by the roar that rocked the Tomb I ask: how could that be?
But if you doubt that deed of doom, just go yourself and see.
You think I’m mad, or drunk, or both . . . Well, I don’t care a damn:
I tell you this: their Lenin is a waxen, show-case SHAM.

Ira Einhorn - Earth Day Founder

Also known as the Unicorn Killer

A manipulative and smelly hippie, Einhorn physically abused his long time girlfriend, Holly Maddux. When she finally left him, he convinced to see him one more time. At the meeting, he killed her and stuffed her body into a trunk that he kept on his back porch in his Philadelphia apartment.

Eighteen months later, when Holly's mummified remains were found, Einhorn skipped out on his bond and spent the next 16 years living in Europe, marrying a swedish woman, Annika Flodin, along the way

Tried in Pennsylvania in absentia in 1993, Einhorn was found guilty of Holly's death and sentenced to life in prison without parole.

Einhorn was found living in France in 1997. After a prolonged extradition process complicated by difference between France and the United States's definition of a fair trial, Pennsylvania changed its laws so that a person convicted in absentia could request a second trial. Einhorn was sent back to the US on July 20, 2001.

At Einhorn's second trial, he claimed that Maddux was killed by the CIA which had put her body in the trunk on his back porch in order to frame him. The jury didn't buy it and Einhorn was sentenced, again, to life in prison without parole. He is currently in prison in Pennsylvania.
