Free Americans Will Prevail

“It is the beginning of the winter of 1777 and 12,000 ragged and ill equipped men, the remnants of what appeared to be a thoroughly defeated Continental army, followed General George Washington into a winter encampment in a place called Valley Forge. They had little in the way of food or warm clothing and 2,000 of them die that winter while the British rejoice over the apparent defeat of the rebel army. Yet, this battered, but proud, group of Patriots will emerge in the spring of 1778 and continue the fight and ultimately defeat the British and establish a new and free nation.”
“Now we have another premature celebration of the demise of America going on. The so-called progressives in the Congress and the Obama administration are celebrating the fact that they have successfully bypassed the Constitution and undermined American Democracy by passing the Healthcare Reform Bill that is designed to change our country forever into a socialist nation with a massive government that controls our lives and limits our individual freedoms.
Well, I have some bad news for all of the socialists, or progressives, or whatever you choose to call yourselves this week, you have made a huge mistake.”

Idea: Citizens Take Oath to Constitution to Protect and Defend
Posted on March 23, 2010 10:01:37 AM PDT by Heartlander2
In Colorado, during a Tea Party protest at the state capitol during the Health Care debate last Sunday, a vet lead all of us (enmasse) in an oath similar to the ones taken by members of the armed services and congress, raising our hands in allegiance to the Constitution to support and defend. At our largest upcoming Tea Party gathering in Colorado (Tax Day Tea Party), we are considering using the standard oath, led by a vet and asking all participating citizens to raise their right hand while making the oath. The “office” referred to in the oath would be one of “American Patriot”.
This could be a good commitment for all who attend gatherings nationwide and could be an effective statement of our resolve as patriots. Thoughts?
I, (state your name), do solemnly swear (or affirm), that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter, So help me God.

"There will be difficult days ahead. But let us always remember the lesson of this day and the lesson of history that we, as a people, do not shrink from a challenge."
Greatest rock and roll band in history. Good find!
Rocking music and appropriate lyrics for this thread.

“Its a Civil War: What We Do Now
Seven steps toward reclaiming Americas values.”
SNIPPET: “I write the words civil war with an ache in my heart. But we are in one.
Thank God this civil war is non-violent. But the fact is that the Left and the rest of the country share almost no values. The American value system and the leftist value system are irreconcilable. If the Left wins, American values lose. If American values win, the Left loses.
After Sundays vote, for the first time in American history, one could no longer confidently believe that the American system will prevail. And if we dont fight for it, we dont deserve it.”
Dennis Prager is the author of the piece as described in post no. 32.
Fantastic vintage Tull performance.
That is a great WHO performance. Keith Moon was insane. His drumming was almost beyond human capability. Fantastic footage of him there. I hate that most old films focus more on the other three when the real action was happening on Keith’s drums. Thanks for posting it.
Yes it does. We shall see if we deserve it.
Yep.

“Steely Determination”
Jed Gladstein
SNIPPET: “In effect, the Congressman is saying that the American people are acting like angry children in a fit of pique, and that they will get over it by November.
That point of view is consistent with the attitude of a political elite that thinks it governs because it is superior to those whom it governs. Down through history, we have seen many such elites. In the Twentieth Century, the worst of them were the National Socialist Party in Germany, the Fascist Party in Italy, and the Communist Party in the Soviet Union and China. Each of those parties grew government by diminishing personal liberty. Each of them had an explanation, a rationale, and an ideology for doing it.
In the United States, however, it is the people who reign supreme, not the government. This is a country founded on the principle of individual liberty, born out of a rebellion against tyrannical government, nourished to maturity in the crucible of capitalism, and preserved with the blood of Patriots willing to fight for the right to become and remain a free people. So, something tells me that the American people are not simply angry. Indeed, I suspect that in November the Democrats will meet up with the steely determination of the American people to regain the liberty that was stolen from them last Sunday.”

“Libertys Activists vs. ObamaCare”
SNIPPET: “A profound connection is taking place between ordinary citizens and their favored representatives, a feat the left cannot match by design.”
March 23, 2010 - by Richard Pollock
SNIPPET: “But another sort of history was made this weekend as well. Few in Washington, D.C., have experienced the kind of electrifying atmosphere that lit up the nations capital in the final two days before House Democrats prevailed shortly before midnight on Sunday. Washington is typically lousy with professional lobbyists and special interest groups. Washington is not accustomed to the citizen activists who descended there on Saturday morning. The city is not used to seeing a visceral link between ordinary citizens and the minority of legislators fighting for them.”
SNIPPET: “The left, which sought to organize ordinary citizens using such teachers as Saul Alinsky, has rarely captured the imagination of a plurality of the public. All demonstrations were tough to organize, and people did not instinctively respond to their entreaties. Thats why community organizing was so tough. Over the years, leftist activist organizations found themselves with many bureaucratic entities, such as unions and womens groups. They could mobilize activists, but not regular citizens.
The type of activist that has emerged on the tea party side is what the left has never been able to tap: ordinary people.”

“SENATE REPUBLICANS HIGHLIGHT THE DISASTER THAT IS OBAMACARE”
March 23, 2010 Posted by John at 7:56 PM
SNIPPET: “We started to see the answer today, as Republicans proposed a series of amendments and made motions that were designed to expose the corruption at the heart of the Democratic Party’s legislation.”
SNIPPET: “Senator Judd Gregg offered an amendment that highlights Obama’s double-counting of alleged Medicare savings. His amendment would prohibit the government from using the Medicare cuts in Obamacare to pay for new spending in the underlying bill. Rather, those cuts would have to be used (as the administration has inconsistently promised) to extend the life of Medicare.
Senator Mike Crapo will offer my favorite motion—to commit the reconciliation bill to the Senate Finance Committee with instructions to ensure that the bill will not result in tax increases for anyone earning under $250,000 a year, as promised by Obama. The Democrats can’t agree to this, of course, since everyone knows Obamacare will increase taxes much more broadly.
Other such amendments and motions are also being offered.”
