Marie Osmonds Son Commits Suicide Entertainment Tonight reports teen battled severe depression
Marie Osmond's teenaged son, Michael Blosil, has killed himself by leaping to his death around 9 p.m. Friday in Los Angeles, reports Entertainment Tonight, which quotes Marie's brother, Donny Osmond, as saying, "Please pray for my sister and her family."
According to ET, Michael left a note explaining he intended to end his life after a lengthy battle with severe depression that left him, he said, feeling as if he had no friends and could never fit in.
In 2007, Michael, then 16, entered a rehab facility. His mother said at the time, My son Michael is an amazing young man, shown through his courage in facing his issues. As his mother, I couldnt be more proud of him.
The reason for the visit to rehab was never disclosed. Michael is one of eight children Osmond has raised with ex-husband Brian Blosil.
By March 2009, Marie told PEOPLE that Michael seemed to be turning his life around. He was finishing up his last year of high school while living with his mom in Las Vegas, where she and Donny headline a show.
"I couldn't be more proud of him," Marie said at the time. "He's got a 3.9 GPA in high school. He's looking at scholarships to some wonderful colleges."
A rep for Donny and Marie Osmond confirmed to PEOPLE that the show at the Flamingo Hotel was canceled Saturday night. It is being determined how long the hiatus will remain in effect.
Marie Osmond, one of nine Utah-bred Osmond siblings, began performing with her brothers at age 3. She has been outspoken about the trials of her own life in the spotlight.

It’s awful that someone should experience such despair that they think the only solution is to take their own life.
Especially one so young.
Prayers for the family.

My estranged husband did. If they realized how incredibly painful it is, even more than the pain they feel. (I think)
I’m so sorry for this family

What a damn shame. I wish suicides could some how know - before the fact - how much anguish they cause their loved ones through these acts. What a pity. A young life wasted.

I think it is for most who live in that world. Just different manifestations in different people. Does anyone in the entertainment world seem to be caught up in the truly important things in life? No, their entire lives are performance based and on display for all to judge. Stressful and shallow.
I love my anonymous life.

I believe Michael was one of her adopted children. Maybe he couldn't get over that fact.
Marie has suffered deep depression herself and at one time completely walked away from the children and her husband (when she was still married to him) and was never going to come back. I hope this doesn't throw her into a deep depression again.

My prayers go out to Marie and her family.
My brother took his life 14 years ago,and it nearly destroyed my parents.
It is a horrible thing for families to have to go through.
So sad.

Suicide is the result of enduring psycho-emotional pain, triggered to action by some agitating stimulus. The stimulus may never be known, often is not. Because it is intensely personal it usually cannot be discerned by others, even loved ones.
This just sucks.

So sad. There is light at the end of the depression tunnel and if you don't see it, it's because there's a curve in the tunnel.
The saddest thing is that with suicide, there are no “do overs.”
Prayers for the family and the repose of Michael's soul.

Suicide is often "contagious" when an at risk person hears of another person it edges them closer to the decision.
Have you heard someone say:
- Life isn't worth living
- My family would be better off without me
- Next time I'll take enough pills to do the job right
- Take my (prized collection, valuables) - I don't need this stuff anymore
- I won't be around to deal with that
- You'll be sorry when I'm gone
- I won't be in your way much longer
- I just can't deal with everything -- life's too hard
- Nobody understands me -- nobody feels the way I do
- There's nothing I can do to make it better
- I'd be better off dead
- I feel like there is no way out
Have you observed:
- Getting affairs in order (paying off debts, changing a will)
- Giving away articles of either personal or monetary value
- Signs of planning a suicide such as obtaining a weapon or writing a suicide note

Thats not true, many times there are very obvious signs if a person knows what to look for. Many people are not willing to admit their loved one might be thinking of it.
When I was in the Air Force they taught us to ask the person. You won’t generate the idea but it might be the opening they need to ask for help.
