(WSB Radio) -- A Rockdale County newborn, bitten by a pit bull, has died.
The Rockdale Citizen reports the mother of the 5 day old girl heard some cries, then spotted the family dog on top of the baby's bassinet.
"As she approached the bassinet, she realized that the dog had bitten her daughter," an investigator told the newspaper.
The child underwent surgery at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston, but died Tuesday from her injuries.
Multiple choice for Pitbull apologists:
a) The newborn provoked the Pitbull
b) It wasn’t really a Pitbull, but actually a Toy Poodle, misidentified as one (this happens all the time you know).
c) Pitbull attacks are rare. The sheer volume of “rare” Pitbull attacks proves this.
Unreal... wait for the inevitable statement from the dog owner: “we never had any problem with this dog before this”
As a Mother, I do not for the life of me understand bringing home a newborn baby to a house that has a pit bull living there. I wouldn’t let any child live in a home where a pit bull lived . . . but a newborn baby, come on people wake up to the man-eating, baby-eating, child-eating killers they are.
I am still waiting for them to tell us that a wolverine also makes such an adorable house pet as well.
Prayers for the family of this baby.
Read these posts and see how much love your ilk is getting from other freepers. Your lame excuses are starting to stink. By the way, there was a Pit bull thread on yesterday that I didn't get a chance to send you.
A bassinet? I wonder if it’s one of those portable bassinets with large handles for carrying, the kind you can place on the floor.
I’m thinking if the dog jumped on the type of bassinet with legs, it might tend to overturn from the force and weight.
IOW, if it had been placed on the floor, there might be more parental culpability than is shown in the article. Not that it would change their grief much.
That’ll teach that 5-day-old kid not to stir up trouble with these peaceful pitbulls.
I personally wouldn't trade every pit bull in the country for the life of one child.
CALLED IT!
I didn’t see this one posted, but maybe I missed it:

An Independence family’s newborn boy was killed by the family’s Siberian husky, which jumped onto a bed where the 11-day-old was in a car seat and bit his head, authorities said Friday.
Honey! The dog ate the kids! Dog of Peace strikes again. SICKENING
How about #4: Chet99 scours the Internet looking for pit bull attacks and ignores all others.
Or #5: Parents were too stupid to introduce the baby to the dog slowly and make sure the dog now that this new cub was NOT to be harmed.
Statistics still won't convince the apologists and these attacks will continue because they refuse to believe their “Fluffy” is a killer by instinct and are dangerous at all times.
And let’s pause a minute to thank all the pitbull breeders out there...
