“I WILL tell you, in all candor, that thanks to Mr. Suleiman’s Citadel management, I could no longer proudly say that the company had never told me what to say or what not to say. There was an obvious cave-in to some ultra-left and pro-Muslim groups, making it unlikely that I would have ever renewed my contract with the company, anyway.”

Too bad! I woke up to him and officer Vic and Melanie for many years. I wish him luck and I hope he resurfaces at some other radio station soon.

Citadel, owned by Farid Suleman, had pushed him toward making positive statements about Muslims.

Suleman is a Palestinian name. The Octomom Nadya Suleman is of Palestinian Arab origin as is an a MP of Hamas who shares the same name.

No mention if Brian Sussman in the letter. I would have at least thought a gook luck reference but as the fill in I’m aware they didn’t work together.

"told to speak positively about Muslims"

Is that even possible?

This is sad.

And a stark contradiction to the conspiracy theory that conservative parent companies are the power behind conservative talk radio.

Seems its part of the war between the ideas that win in an open marketplace, and the ideas that must be advanced by other means.

I’d pay a decent chunk of money to hear someone say that to Mark Levin, as long as I got to hear Levin’s response as part of the deal.

:)

Of course they are going to “come for” remaining conservative media voices, the process will continue until we have nothing left but PRAVDA USA on every channel.

I've been saying for years that there was a plot to dismantle conservative talk radio. This seals the deal for me.

Conservative Melanie Morgan Cut from KSFO Radio.

NEWS FLASH: Melanie Morgan Cut from KSFO 560 AM - San Francisco

And finally, a paraphrasing of a much earlier (but long forgotten) post on this issue when ABC Radio was first broken up.

However, my larger point is still that the ABCRadio network sale would lead to the dismantling of conservative talk radio. It seems that ABCRadio was the birthing ground of conservative talk radio, given that Limbaugh started out at WABC, and Hannity and Levin are located there, too.

Breaking up the ABCRadio network is a clever way to hasten the demise of conservative talk radio, if it's not possible to do it via the Fairness Doctrine.

Consider this plan:

1. Destroy the affiliate network. (Done)
2. Eliminate local talk radio. (In Progress) This begins the process of de-linking the listener to his/her local station and local issues.
3. Replace local talk radio with nationally syndicated talk radio, but at non-live times. (Also in progress). If only the local origin of a nationally syndicated show is getting the live feed, then the people in other locations, either when driving or elsewhere, will not be able to participate because the shows will have ended by the time they get to listen. This results in people becoming less interested in conservative talk radio as a whole.

Other talk-radio personalities better start paying attention to the business side of things, because the Fariness Doctrine is not their bogeyman right now. Liberals are using their money to buy up the media outlets and then shutting down right-wing talk radio.

I listened to the podcast of the Friday show. I heard some of it live, but was asleep during the 5:00AM hour.

Brian Sussman and Tom Benner (Officer Vic) said that they tell it with brutal honesty on their station, and then talked about the changes without talking about the circumstances.

If they really want to be brutally honest with their listeners, they should come clean about this and say that Lee Rodgers was censored for political reasons and forced off the air. It's unfortunate that they are now acting as collaborators, quietly side-stepping what happened to their neighbors while protecting their own interests.

Who will be there to speak out for Sussman and Benner when the opposition comes for them?

Citadel, KSFO's owner, is in bankruptcy, thus establishing the level of their ability to make good decisions.

Maybe they want/need the Islamists to buy them out.

AM860 for Rodgers? If he wants it that is. Could AM860 afford the price until the ads caught up? I wonder.

Long-time and former KSFO host Michael Savage after being dropped by KNEW (more Islamist/Al Qaeda pressure?) is now on San Francisco Bay Area AM860 (1500 - 1800). It's an all-sports station.

I doubt that an Islamist (Al Qaeda Muslim) owns AM860.

I'll still catch Ms Barbara Simpson on the week-ends but will stick to local Sacramento stations in the weekday mornings (0300 - 0600, Bennett and Imus). Nothing after that until Rush (0900) sometimes I'll listen.

Nothing on week-end mornings and evenings, Simpson Sat. and Sun. afternoons, bluegrass and classical music, rest of Sat. and Sun. respectively. Bill Cunningham Sunday evening.

Repeat.

Farid Suleman doesn’t own Citadel. He’s the CEO. Disney actually has the largest chunk of stock.

Rodgers grumpy old man schtick was getting annoying to me. You could always count on him to rain on any parade. Still, I was glad to have him available to hear.

I think the Muslim bit is a sideshow. Sussman mentioned that Rodgers had been phoning in his program from Arizona for the last four years. It was clear he was leaving at the end of his contract anyway so they decided to change now. Sounds like 'bidness' to me. Yes, Rodgers was making them money but they decided Sussman would make them more.

I wish the old goat well but, 'the king is dead, long live the king.'
