Air America Ceases Radio Broadcasts, Will Declare Bankruptcy Authored by Mark Hefflinger on January 21, 2010 - 11:50am. New York - Liberal talk-radio network Air America unceremoniously announced on Thursday that it would cease broadcasting immediately and file for bankruptcy. "It is with the greatest regret, on behalf of our Board, that we must announce that Air America Media is ceasing its live programming operations as of this afternoon, and that the Company will file soon under Chapter 7 of the Bankruptcy Code to carry out an orderly winding-down of the business," the company said on its website.

"The very difficult economic environment has had a significant impact on Air America's business. This past year has seen a 'perfect storm' in the media industry generally," the company added.

Seems appropriate that Err Amerika would file for bankruptcy... it’s been morally bankrupt since its inception.

“The very difficult economic environment has had a significant impact on Air America’s business.”

Uh... Maybe the business model was flawed in that they were selling a product that had limited interest. The migration of Schultz, Maddow, etc. doesn’t seem to be helping MSNBC either.

I think they have had a few buyouts and reorganizations and bankruptcies and yet, nobody listened.

Over at DU, they’re shell-shocked at all the bad news this week, only to be topped off by the Err-America news.

While this country really does benefit from robust arguments over things that matter and no one should be allowed to present only one side of things...

THIS IS GREAT!!!!!

No bailout from Boys and Girls Clubs?

And now for the really sad, sad, sad part...more jobs lost, more unemployed.

And now for the good part...no longer have to look at the channel selector knob as an "Air" freshener.

If MSNBC relied on their ratings, they would be gone. Once GE peddles this junk to Comcast I bet heads will roll. Until then it is just a place where GE can put it’s ads on the tube.

Once, driving several hundred miles, I tuned into a talk station as I normally do...It happened to be Air America...being very conservative, I started to change then thought, Let’s see what this place is about....For over an hour I heard nothing but jokes, innuendo, and attempts at humor from the leftists on the air...No real news, no intelligent debate or discussion...no serious opinion...just attempts at humorous slams against conservatism....

Election returns Tuesday night ratings were as follows:

Hannity-—6,700,000 viewers (FOX)

Matthews—786,000 viewers (MSNBC)

That says it all....

Humor? Mostly on the level of second grade name calling (Stephanie Miller). Or daily meltdowns (Mike Malloy). Lunatic ravings (Ed Schultz). The entire NBC group needs to die next, and with it, General Electric (49%) and Comcast (51%).
