He needs counseling for inventing a motion-detector device? His parents need counseling? What is wrong with this picture? And the people in charge of the school? Idiots.

Why would they recommend ‘counseling’? Because the child and parents were upset, or was it because they had a bright kid who made a motion detector device and such innovative thinking needs to be discouraged by the Public School Soviet?

The student violated school policies

I wonder what they were - regarding electrical devices?

And did his project get to remain in the competition? I wonder how he did.

Definitely! After all, his science project consisting of "electronic parts" whose purpose was not readily apparent to that dork of a vice-principal. When will these junior high school students learn that they should play only with soft plastic building blocks?

Meanwhile, how many of that child's fellow students are taking illegal drugs, engaging in illicit sex, missing class, using obscene language, etc.?

If the school authorities really knew their kids individually, like they did in my day, they would have known ahead of time if this kid was a problem or not.

But to be fair, the school authorities were right in recommending conselling for the child and his parents - they are probably scarred by the experience.

Regards,

Lets see here, we have an EMPTY Gatorade bottle, wires and unnamed electrical components attached to said EMPTY bottle and unspecified electrical components in the students backpack.

I know the student had figured out how to make a Gatorade stimulated light saber and the Asst Principal went off half cocked.

Hey the comment makes about as much sense as the story:-0

Or a death ray!!!

What else could it be?

School administration graduated from Duke right?

“The child is obviously too bright...he’s a danger to society.”

Like in “1984” if any of the Proles showed potential they were eliminated.

The kid is bright and the school is under a tyrannial pall of leftist rhetoric and political correctness. There is very little sign of intelligent life in our schools these days. This kid gives one hope.

Obviously, Millennial Tech Magnet Middle School does not emphasize technology skills among its staff. Appears the students are instructing the dunderheads running the school! On the other hand, perhaps the student should be prosecuted for imaginative thinking, creativity, unauthorized non-union manufacturing, and failure to pay health-care penalties.

The kid turned out to be normal. It looks like the system needs some counseling.

What right did they have to search the garage?

They would have had to gotten a warrant to search my garage. Also, I wonder if they family will fight the counseling? My guess is they won't because they have succumbed to the state.

a bit of overkill on the part the school administration. sorta of knocking down the creativity of an intelligent child. maybe if the school administration would stop considering political correctness and sucking up to the teat of the O administration the children could learn something. eductaed teachers whom certification should be stripped from them for stupidity, talking with the children in how the achieved the project would have determined that the project was completely harmless. Dumb school administrators and teachers yield dumb students

We NEVER found out what it was.

How did they know the bottle was empty? A half liter of hydrogen would make for a fairly large boom.

His father needs to Jap-slap the smack off principal and anyone else who didn’t simply ASK the kid what the thing was?? Apparently that was too complicated for any of these PC clowns. Somehow I seriously DOUBT I would have been “cooperative” with a bunch of jack-boots who arrested my son and dragged me and my wife “downtown” for NOTHING!!

Hint: (Students are being taught by people who are incapable of thinking.)
