John Birch Society and Mormon Prophecies about the US Constitution
Evangel Magazine (?) | 2002 | Dennis A. Wright

Posted on 01/10/2010 12:47:27 AM PST by CondoleezzaProtege

"...G. Vance Smith, a committed Mormon, now leads the Society. Vance Smith is systematically removing people from leadership positions within the John Birch Society and replacing them with Mormons. One gathers that Smith does not feel that he is accountable to the membership concerning his reasons for the replacement of longtime leadership. There seems to be no accountability factor. Longtime Birchers are leaving the Society en masse.

There seems to be a major concern that the Society is fast becoming a puppet for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. One document that I received suggests that Smith's course of action is tied in with his Mormon belief that, "The time will come when the destiny of the nation will hang upon a single thread."

Note the words of Mormon Prophet Brigham Young:

"Will the Constitution be destroyed? No; it will be held inviolate by this people; and, as Joseph Smith said, 'The time will come when the destiny of the nation will hang upon a single thread. At that critical juncture, this people will step forth and save it from threatened destruction.' It will be so." (Journal of Discourses,7:15.) Young also made another "prophecy" about the same circumstances: "Brethren and sisters, our friends wish to know our feelings towards the Government. I answer, they are first rate, and we will prove it too, as you will see if you only live long enough, for that we shall live to prove it is certain, and when the Constitution of the United States hangs, as it were, upon a single thread, they will have to call for the "Mormon" Elders to save it from utter destruction; and they will step forward and do it." (Journal of Discourses, 2:182.)

There is yet a third voice explaining this" prophecy," and that is the voice of Orson Hyde, a contemporary of Joseph Smiths because he was one of his Twelve Apostles, who wrote this, also quoted in Journal of Discourses:

"It is said that brother Joseph in his lifetime declared that the Elders of this Church should step forth at a particular time when the Constitution should be in danger, and rescue it, and save it. I believe he said something like this - that the time would come when the country would be in danger of an overthrow; and said he, If the Constitution be saved at all, it will be by the Elders of this Church. I believe this is about the language, as nearly as I can recollect it." (Journal of Discourses, 6:152) Does Vance Smith believe that this is a prophecy made by his Prophet that has yet to be fulfilled, and does he see the Birch Society in all of its endeavors striving to be the group to "step forward and do it" to save the Constitution in junction with the LDS Church? Is this why he is systematically removing longtime Birchers from leadership positions and replacing them with Mormons? Time will tell."

If it was not put in the "Doctrine and Covenants" it is not considered a prophecy.

It appears you may be mistaken (#10) :

Articles of Faith

The Articles of Faith outline 13 basic points of belief of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
The Prophet Joseph Smith first wrote them in a letter to John Wentworth, a newspaper editor,
in response to Mr. Wentworth's request to know what members of the Church believed.
They were subsequently published in Church periodicals.
They are now regarded as scripture and included in the Pearl of Great Price.

THE ARTICLES OF FAITH
OF THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER-DAY SAINTS
History of the Church, Vol. 4, pp. 535—541

  1. We believe in God, the Eternal Father, and in His Son, Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost.
  2. We believe that men will be punished for their own sins, and not for Adam's transgression.
  3. We believe that through the Atonement of Christ, all mankind may be saved, by obedience to the laws and ordinances of the Gospel.
  4. We believe that the first principles and ordinances of the Gospel are: first, Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ; second, Repentance; third, Baptism by immersion for the remission of sins; fourth, Laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost.
  5. We believe that a man must be called of God, by prophecy, and by the laying on of hands by those who are in authority, to preach the Gospel and administer in the ordinances thereof.
  6. We believe in the same organization that existed in the Primitive Church, namely, apostles, prophets, pastors, teachers, evangelists, and so forth.
  7. We believe in the gift of tongues, prophecy, revelation, visions, healing, interpretation of tongues, and so forth.
  8. We believe the Bible to be the word of God as far as it is translated correctly; we also believe the Book of Mormon to be the word of God.
  9. We believe all that God has revealed, all that He does now reveal, and we believe that He will yet reveal many great and important things pertaining to the Kingdom of God.
  10. We believe in the literal gathering of Israel and in the restoration of the Ten Tribes; that Zion (the New Jerusalem) will be built upon the American continent; that Christ will reign personally upon the earth; and, that the earth will be renewed and receive its paradisiacal glory.
  11. We claim the privilege of worshiping Almighty God according to the dictates of our own conscience, and allow all men the same privilege, let them worship how, where, or what they may.
  12. We believe in being subject to kings, presidents, rulers, and magistrates, in obeying, honoring, and sustaining the law.
  13. We believe in being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous, and in doing good to all men; indeed, we may say that we follow the admonition of Paul—We believe all things, we hope all things, we have endured many things, and hope to be able to endure all things. If there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things.

Joseph Smith

Mormons are gnats compared to some other well respected considered mainstream Christian Churches are not near as serious as the following.

Sorry; but they are NOT Christians at all.

Thanks for not pinging me. Of the 55, 52 I’ve read were Active Church Members. My wording on the first post was slightly off and YOU in your typical Trollish manner made it an issue after that and IGNORED Clarifications made thereafter. I personally consider you a troll and will never post or answer any additional post from you again on any subject manner as this was the last straw. Badgering posters is not the same as civil debate and you need to learn the differencee.

Ping you to what??? Are you trolling? Are you badgering me?Post 93 was not to you, look at it again, it was a continuation of my post 90, which was not to you either.

That is a big, foul mouthed, dishonest oops on your part, but thanks for the nasty nonsense.

Elsie, I NEVER said that the LDS didn't believe that Zion would be established in the US. My statement was to the posters comment: "The main point is: Mormons believe in prophecies specifically about the US Constitution and a time where there will be a spiritual duty for Mormons to rise up and "preserve it."

Unless it has been voted on in General Conference and placed in the Doctrine and Covenents it is NOT considered a Revelation/Prophecy.

Articles of Faith are NOT Prophecy, they are Articles of Faith.

When a guy is a baptized Christian that attends Christian church religiously, that has lifelong church membership and is educated by, married by, and buried by his Christian leaders, then I assume the guy was a Christian.

Then you wouldn't be talking about Jefferson.

BTW: Reagan WAS a devout Christian, but stopped attending services regularly when he was in his late teens, a tradition that continued until his death.

If we as concerned Americans fail to save the constitutional republic in this country and the Mormons have to step in and save the constitutional republic, then we failed miserably and it is our fault for not saving it earlier....

At that point the Mormons can take the credit and “mazel tov” to them. If the Mormons are taking action now in order to position themselves to be able to step in at the right time and place to save this country when the constitution is hanging by a thread, we should be asking ourselves, “WHY the heck aren’t we planning to do the same thing already?”

Why whine about the Mormons, from what UI have heard they stress that every Mormon family keep roughly a year supply of food in stock for their family lest some disaster strike. They sound more prepared than most of us here. Don’t envy them, learn from them,

You don’t have to be Mormon, just take some of the good things they practice and make them your own because they are positive things. Maybe even network with other Mormons in your community so that if the shit should hit the fan you can stand together as Americans and weather the storm.

I myself am looking forward to stockpiling 1 year worth of dry goods and several months worth of bottled water which I will “rotate my stock” to keep fresh. Even if it is not some apocalypse scenario it is good to be prepared in case of Natural disaster as much as any man made of government disaster.

You make interesting points GraceG, disagree with some of what you say, but regardless, Mitt Romney is not one of those Constitutional types and the John Birch Society has many other factors tainting its legacy. At the end of the day, Christians are called to be more committed to Christ than to country. This does not mean we abandon patriotic duty altogether though obviously.

Huh?

Should I believe you or my lyin' eyes?

The AoF is SCRIPTURE, and anything that is in SCRIPTURE, that testifies about a FUTURE event, is PROPHECY!

(I don't make the rules about how to parse words; I just obey them.)

John Birch (and maybe J Frank Norris and Oscar Wells along side of him) may be trying to send messages from the Glory to have his name removed from the organization.

Birch was a member of, and commissioned to the mission field in China, along with the late Oscar Wells, by the First Baptist Church of Fort Worth, Texas, when J. Frank Norris, a great soul-winner and temperance preacher was the church’s pastor. Dr. Norris passed away in 1952. Isn’t that the year that the JBS was founded?

And you'll never get one either as you know you have done nothing but play stupid childish games with me in previous exchanges on other threads. You see you badger people and badger people with your questions and comments the twisting replies posting you are so good at.

You do it so much that well a person gets tired of it especially when they answered you several times and you demand an answer again to same question and pretend like you never read it.

Now I'm done with you. I'm not ever again replying to you on any thread. I'm sure not ever apologizing to you as you have never done likewise when proved you erred, So I suggest you get over it.

The very fact you wait days to come back and try to stir more up shows what you are. What's wrong? No one playing your game anymore like the guy on the natural gas thread from Alaska didn't answer you when he saw what you were trying to do? The gigs up. Yea I saw that thread and you went to it too looking for an arguement to start. LOL that guy didn't play.

Don't post to me and expect any replies because none are ever coming from me to you. I think I just made myself as clear on this issue as possible. But knowing you this will not by any means be good enough and resolve this. Bye Now.
