I knew him and witnessed his battle with cancer first hand. I wondered why I hadn’t seen him in church lately. He was fighting his final battle.

As someone who knew him personally, I can say the man was nothing but class. A good guy. A really good guy. The world is poorer for his passing.

But, he’s in a better place.

There are a LOT of pro wrestlers who died young.

Wonder what put him at a high risk for throat cancer. Was he a heavy smoker/ drinker ?

Ah bummer. He’s been fighting that for a long time. He was one of Jim Ross’ favorites.

Sorry for the passing of your friend. Must have been cool to know him. I followed wrestling as a kid and now still sometimes as an adult.

RIP.

Reminds me of why "Cold Stone" Steve Austin is called "Steve Austin". Austin's real name is Steve Williams.

Since Austin was just an upstart in the business, and "Dr. Death" Steve Williams was an established pro-wrestler, Austin had to change his name from Williams to Austin so that promoters knew who they were booking for their wrestling events.

I’m sorry to hear of your lose. 49 is way too young to die for anyone. I’ve had 2 friends who lost their lives in the past year and both were also 49 yo. It is just too young!

Didn’t they do a clip of him at his house with family. He berated his son and rebuked his wife repeatedly, then finally kicked the reporter out of the house.....it was one of the more hilarious shorts.
