augur; verb/noun
–noun 1. one of a group of ancient Roman officials charged with observing and interpreting omens for guidance in public affairs. 2. soothsayer; prophet. –verb (used with object) 3. to divine or predict, as from omens; prognosticate. 4. to serve as an omen or promise of; foreshadow; betoken: Mounting sales augur a profitable year. –verb (used without object) 5. to conjecture from signs or omens; predict. 6. to be a sign; bode: The movement of troops augurs ill for the peace of the area.
Etymology:c.1374 (implied in augury), from L. augur, a religious official in ancient Rome who foretold events by interpreting omens, perhaps originally meaning "an increase in crops enacted in ritual," in which case it probably is from Old L. *augos (gen. *augeris) "increase," and is related to augere "increase" (see augment). The more popular theory is that it is from L. avis "bird," since flights, singing, and feeding of birds or entrails from bird sacrifices were an important part of divination (cf. auspicious). The second element would be from garrire "to talk." The verb is 1549, from the noun.

And yet, half the croqs in class are thinking to themselves "I'd Hit It!"
I guess you and I are too old to go cougar hunting (or to be hunted by cougars)?
I’m at that awkaward age, too old to be cougar bait yet too young to be a dirty old man...
I’m happy to say that based on the criteria I’m seeing here I am not a cougar of the female human variety-I’ve never been interested in younger men, I’m not a predatory female and I don’t have any surgically-enhanced facial or body parts-those women in the photos on that thread look like mutton made up to be lamb.
The only cougars in the woods here are the feline ones that hunt deer, rodents and domestic pets left outside unattended.
I saw a Christmas special featuring her house getting decorated for Christmas.......the house and furnishings were over done, much like the overdone phony boob look she is dishing out in that photo. She needs a total makeover...herself and her home.
I look at younger men and assess them as SIL material. LOL
Oops! I have to take back my last statement-there IS one human female cougar in this community-she doesn’t have any surgical enhancements, but she is 60-ish and fairly well preserved, likes men 15-20 years (and more) younger. She also dresses like she is a much younger pavement princess, complete with skirts up to her brains, F*** me pumps, pushup bra, low cut necklines and she puts on her makeup with a putty knife and an airbrush. She is a fellow widow, but the rest of us really don’t know what to make of her.

A+++ it’s pretty depressing. xshub and i actually penned a fairly overtly political christmas letter this year, it went out in our cards yesterday. i had tried several times to get a half decent letter going, finally i left it for xshub to edit, saying, I know it’s depressing sounding but i can’t seem to do much better. So he edited it and made it MORE gloom and doomish, and it went out like that, LOL!

Murder weather weekend -— roads were so bad that Church Services were caneled yesterday. So was the annual carolling jaunt. Both have been rescheduled for tomorrow.
XS, I know you guys got bucketloads of snow...I just hope y’all didn’t have to deal with the flooding and then freezing we are still dealing with!!!!
that line was almost verbatim from our apocryphal christmas letter! xshub made reference to the 2 feet of global warming sitting out in our driveway and how he’s SURE that $100 billion annually in wealth transfers from the taxpayers will make it go away!LOL!
It's the most uplifting time of the year.
