Speak Now, Tiger, Or Forever Hold Your Peace Golfer must speak publicly about car crash and rumors of Uchitel affair
Courtney Hazlett
When Tiger Woods got in the car just before 2:25 a.m. Friday, he didnt just crash into a fire hydrant. He had a head-on collision with another object: the invisible bowels of the bad-publicity machine, which in more than 13 years of professional golf, hed been able to avoid.
As a college athlete in the mid-1990s, my circle overlapped with Woods from time to time, and I can attest there are plenty of stories about a slightly awkward Stanford golfprodigy that could be filed under typical college kid behavior, or twisted into tabloid fodder.
As a fledgling journalist at Golf World magazine in the early 2000s, I can attest to similar stories of the youngest golfer to achieve a career grand slam behaving in a way that might have looked bad on paper.
But these stories never really materialized. Thrown clubs and the errant F-bombs were chalked up to pressures of the sport and apologies followed. So why has an accident in the driveway turned into a full-blown train wreck? Because much like a guy named David Letterman, up until now Woods public life and private persona have had few intersections, and the former has been for the most part, unimpeachable.

I agree. The media is trying to make a mountain out of a molehill. So the carpet got stuck on the gas peddle. Just leave the guy alone...and I hate golf.
The unasked question here is about why he didn't get any bad publicity before.
I would contend it's an offshoot of the "magic Negro effect."
Don't say anything bad about a black person, especially one doing otherwise admirable things, as they have enough negatives in their life to deal with anyway.
I don't hold this effect against Tiger, who has admirably refused to play any race cards. It's a media and liberal thing. But I repeat myself.
This refusal to hold black people to the same standard as others has had horrible effects in the black community. Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton and ACORN have gotten away for decades with behavior that would have destroyed a non-black person's career, if not put them in jail.
The effect has been slowly disippating for some years. The interesting thing is that since the election of Obama it seems to be disappearing much faster. Hard to hold onto the notion that a black man can't get ahead when he's president. For instance, the whole Professor Gates thing is the first example I can think of where the race card was played and it bounced like a bad check.
When my husband totaled his pickup a few years ago he also totaled a guard rail. We received a bill for $4500 from the State of TN to have the guard rails replaced. Insurance covered it but I know the State of TN charges you for damage to state property caused by a traffic accident.
Do we really need prosecutors getting involved? I’m referring to the alleged Elin-Tiger confrontation, not the property damage involving the Car & the neighbor’s landscaping...
Where did I say *criminal* charges? When there are civil lawsuits, people file for emotional pain and suffering etc. So it’s already there in the legal system. People used to file for divorce for ‘mental cruelty’. That’s emotional. Maybe you weren’t aware of that?
No, the police have a duty to press charges against his wife. If there is domestic violence the law is someone has to go to jail for 24 hours. Plenty of men are caught in this, and I don’t think the double standard is fair. If she engaged in domestic violence, she should be arrested.
Happens all the time.
While he doesn't have to speak to the cops about it, the state of Florida doesn't have to give him an operator's license either. If Tiger doesn't eventually talk to the police, he'll surely lose his license.
And what if she KILLS Tiger the next time......the police would be in VERY BIG TROUBLE for letting this slide. If the rolls were reversed........
How do you know he was sitting in his vehicle when he supposedly called his friend......who then immediately called a news source to post it on the internet? Do you really believe that? If he called his friend couldn’t he have done it earlier? Doubt that internet gossip can really can be considered a good source. Oh, in your living room trial that is a good source.
I will hand it to you. You are good. You have enough facts to put someone on trial and convict them from the leisure of your home without responding to the scene and talking to anyone.
We will see if he gets charged. Doubt that he will...which, in this country, last time I checked, means your innocent.
His name is Eldrich, I think.
The courts ruled long ago that a person has a right to transportation. That is why they give drunks limited usage permits.
It’s a well documented fact that when it comes to women, it’s a hell of a lot easier to get forgiveness than it is to get permission.
When you apply for and receive your motor vehicle operator's license, something attaches called "implied consent". While you're protected by the 5th Amendment and can't be made to incriminate yourself, you partially waive some of that protection with your application for a license. It's what gives the police the right to draw your blood, by force if necessary, if they suspect you of drinking and driving. Laws vary from state to state, but usually, when there's an injury accident - as is the case here - the most police are given, by law, the most latitude. Also, if you refuse a BAC or even to answer questions, then your driver's license may and will be limited, suspended or revoked. It happens everyday of the week in courtrooms all across America.
Left out the fact that the cops has to physical be able to confirm you were in the car and you were operating the car. There have been many cases where a drunk was under the wheel of a wrecked car, buy he was smart enough to throw the keys away and he was not convicted.
It just goes to show, that some people don’t deserve to be rich and famous!
Last night I was still believing she only smashed the back of his car as he left, after scratching him with her hand. Now that I hear his passenger and back seat windows were also smashed, I think she WAS going for him with a deadly weapon. I think she needs to fess up and do her community service or whatever.
