Where did I say *criminal* charges? When there are civil lawsuits, people file for emotional pain and suffering etc. So it’s already there in the legal system. People used to file for divorce for ‘mental cruelty’. That’s emotional. Maybe you weren’t aware of that?

You're right, I misread your comments. However, you will be opening a huge Pandoras box if you allow lawsuits for emotional distress in marriages. How far do you go back? Relationships are messy and its impossible for a court or jury to know who started what.
There ARE worse things you can do to a spouse than cheating (I know... some of those things have been done to me) ... so where do you draw the line? Its just too convoluted for the state to be involved in such issues.... just too subjective in nature and open to biases.
As for your personal issues.... you really need to get a grip on the whole issue. Trust me, there really are worse betrayals than cheating. Granted some people are so fixated on the subject of sex, that they can't conceive of that...
Your insecurity is driving your anger and hurt. Be proud of who you are. And if you can't get over it, move on. Your current emotional situation is not tenable. You will just make yourself sick. Get over it or move on.
