Really ignorant question for you guys, why is Tamiflu not sold over-the-counter?
Thanks!

Not wanting to be taken as a smart alec but get used to it. We may as well practice voodoo if health care is voted in.

A mixture of Whiskey, lemon juice, honey will probably work just as well.

Good Darn Question! I thought it was - before hearing about it this year. I knew it existed I just never looked into it or needed it and assumed it was an OT drug.

How on earth did the human race survive without Tamiflu.

and you CAN make your own whiskey, grow your own lemons (in some places), and harvest your own honey!
Don’t think you can make Tamiflu with a Gilberts Chemistry set...

Mainly because organized medicine always wants to stifle competition.
But as with antibiotics, there’s also a valid scientfic reason:
Over-the-counter availability could lead to widespread “underdosing” — which in turn might help create strains of resistant flu viruses.

You could probably do without the lemons. Hell, I get by without the lemons or honey. Haven't had the flu in 20 yrs.

Our 13 year old got the flu, home for a week. Called doctor to get some tamiflu and he said he never gives this stuff because of the side effects.
I googled tamiflu side affects and don’t blame him, there can be some nasty stuff.

My RX:
That, my friends, is Liquid Jamaflu.
With this, I suggest you stay at home and copiously apply the Rx with Movies On Demand.

I got my Tamiflu pills yesterday - no problems. Why do they need the liquid form?
You can always make the liquid from from pills, especially capsules. You need a decent scale to be able to do it right.
I sure hope this stuff works, I’m miserable and according to the Doctor, I have the bad one but I forget what he called it; maybe it was H1N1. It’s not the swine flu though. I just tried to call him to confirm and they’re closed. I’ll call tomorrow. I do feel slightly better today than yesterday before I took the Tamiflu.

Haven't had the flu in 20 yrs. Think about it. I don't get the flu either and don't get the shot. I believe that the older generation are more disease resistant because we had to survive everything as children and young adults. Our immune systems are much stronger than the youngsters who have been trotted to the doctor for antibiotics every time they sneeze, and get shots to prevent the childhood diseases. They have no natural resistance. Hot house plants.

I got the flu one time. Never so sick in my life. I was horribly ill for over a week. Didn't feel “normal” for nearly a month later. Swore I would never get the flu again if I could help it and have been getting the seasonal flu shot since. That was almost 30 years ago. A few years ago I missed getting a flu shot and got the flu. I got Tamiflu right away from my doctor. I was feeling fine after about 2 days. No side effects for me. Tamiflu WORKS.
