Is
blatant advertising among the stated or implied purposes of FreeRepublic now?
I hope Steve Jobs is paying very well for all this expensive marketplace exposure... ;-/

This is directed at the Mac Ping list. Previous update news concerning Macs and iPhones have been posted here in the past.
Deal with it.

Just an FYI - this update breaks the tethering hack, so I recommend against applying it. Unfortunately, it’s too late for me. :(

I’ve been reading that I-phone users have overwhelmed the ATT network. Has this really been a problem?

To be honest, I notice that my internet connection sometimes drops; and I remedy the situation by switching my 3G connection on and off through the settings.
They say that the iPhone is simply devouring bandwith.
Only week after the new 3GS was introduced, mobile uploads to YouTube had increased by 400 percent.

Is blatant advertising among the stated or implied purposes of FreeRepublic now? I hope Steve Jobs is paying very well for all this expensive marketplace exposure... It is not "advertising," it is an announcement of interest to the 375 Freepers who are currently members of the Mac Ping List. Many other Freepers are iPhone users who are also interested. If you are not interested, don't read it. Ignore it and move on to the next thread.

Yeah, some huge following you've got here. Deal with it. Let's see. ~40 Million Mac OSX users and ~45 million iPhone and iPod touch users. That's potentially around 85 million in said followingand growing rapidly.
Not bad for OSX operating system products.
Apple IS dealing with it.

Ive been reading that I-phone users have overwhelmed the ATT network. Has this really been a problem? I've not noticed any impact on my 3G iPhone usage. AT&T is rapidly increasing the availability of 3G signals and has recently announced that they have doubled the speed of 3G in six metropolitan areas with plans for more cities in the near future.

It is, however, forcing AT&T to actually fix some of their wonkiest towers that were marginal at best.
Overall, though, the fact of the matter is that my client’s reps equipped with iPhones are *still* often the only people in the room or even the job site with usable signal. On top of which, my overall experience has been excellent... which simply cannot be said about any other phone.
We had one guy in the office demand the Blackberry Storm in place of the iPhone he’d been assigned. Against my objections, he was given one.
Two weeks later, he wanted his iPhone back.

Good morning(!) Swordmaker. Question: I've already upgraded my iPod Touch 32g 2nd gen to 3.0 -- does it now cost me $4.99 to upgrade to 3.1?

Not that I know of, usually the upgrades are free, unless it is a major one, like Snow Leopard, which cost me about 29 dollars.

Haters! (not you Cyro) I dig the iPhone! I’ll never get another phone; I’ll keep getting updated models. This thing has really served me well.
