Men lose their minds speaking to pretty women Talking to an attractive woman really can make a man lose his mind, according to a new study.

The research shows men who spend even a few minutes in the company of an attractive woman perform less well in tests designed to measure brain function than those who chat to someone they do not find attractive.
Researchers who carried out the study, published in the Journal of Experimental and Social Psychology, think the reason may be that men use up so much of their brain function or 'cognitive resources' trying to impress beautiful women, they have little left for other tasks.
The findings have implications for the performance of men who flirt with women in the workplace, or even exam results in mixed-sex schools.
Women, however, were not affected by chatting to a handsome man.
This may be simply because men are programmed by evolution to think more about mating opportunities.
Psychologists at Radboud University in The Netherlands carried out the study after one of them was so struck on impressing an attractive woman he had never met before, that he could not remember his address when she asked him where he lived.
Researchers said it was as if he was so keen to make an impression he 'temporarily absorbed most of his cognitive resources.'
To see if other men were affected in the same way, they recruited 40 male heterosexual students.

A sidebar: Radio show psychologist Toni Grant once addressed the issue of women who say they intimidate men. She stated that in her 30 year practice she found that men are generally not intimidated by women...and upon further inquiry she found that women who think they are intimidating are mis-reading the message that those men are sending ...they just don’t like you. I have to agree. Never met the woman who intimidates me..or makes me lose my mind....I don’t care how hot she is...:o)
I have seen that in button form strategically placed. To which I responded “But I like the view down here.” Got me a laugh.
I know what this looks like. I was in the vegetable department at our local Food Lion when a man asked the attractive young female vegetarian if her melons were organic - only he couldn’t quite get the words out in the right order.
He blushed and ran out of the store.
Geez...what a wuss...
One has to wonder exactly WHERE Eve had that apple. This might have been the first documented instance of kinky sex.
What tower?
( yeah, that's the ticket....)
It could work! I'll have to note that for future use....;o)
1. “Women, however, were not affected by chatting to a handsome man.”
2. “This may be simply because men are programmed by evolution to think more about mating opportunities. “”
I think I would challenge these two statements.
Susan couldn't help staring at Bob's enormous pens
confusing being the boss with being bossy...
That is exactly what Ms. Grant was alluding to...it all started when a caller was whining about not being able to find a man she doesn't intimidate...imagine her chagrin when Toni asked: "did you ever consider the possibility that these men just don't like you?"
Just getting myself in trouble on my lunch hour as usual!...:o)
They were made for one another...she needed his felt tip, and he needed his tip felt.
You’re right, FIRMbss. We are just as vulnerable. I HATE to admit it.
