Got to share this. My Grandfather, of good French Canadian lumberjack stock, was mugged when he was 75. After that, he started, I say started working out at 75 years old. He had polio as a child, so his left leg was grossly deformed. He would invite the family over to use his pool and then go in afterwards, so I only saw his leg once and it has stayed with me since.
I have a photo of him at 85 years old with 350 pounds on the bench press. Looked like Shwartzeneger”s upper body and an old mans head. I remember a pile of those coiled steel springs with handgrips on the ends. Not the pansy ones you would pull apart, these were approx. 1/2 inch thick spring steel that you bend by bringing the handles together. Every one in the pile was broken from metal fatigue. It was a big joke when he would come over and could drop anyone with a handshake.
When he was 92 he parked in front of a bank in Florida and his wife went in. At this point he had a legbrace and it took alot of time and effort to get in and out of the car. When she went in, two guys ran out after robbing the bank. One ran and the other came through the passenger side and put a gun to his head to get him out of the car. Gramps grabbed the gun and beat the crackhead’s head against the dashboard of his caddy. Testified in court and put the guy away. I always wondered what happened to that guy in jail when word got out he was beat up by a guy born in the 19th century lol
Way back in the day I hit a guy with a spinning back roundhouse kick - only one I ever landed in 4 years - and he didn’t look nearly as bad as this guy does.
I’m all for buying Gramps a pint or two.

In England it is more likely that the old boxer will do time for assaulting the guy with the knife. The knifey will get a good scolding and be told to be good from now on and his knife will be confiscated so he can't do that again. Self defense is legally the most serious form of assault there.

I know you’re not as old, I was teasin you because you just hada birthday. The guy in the pick got pounded pretty hard..I know 40 year olds that can’t do that. What an inspiration to start training to be physically fit at any age!
On a serious note, I see people in their 60’s who look far younger— so, while being elderly is more of a frame of mind, I think of elderly as 80 and above, although there are exceptions to the rule.
