This far surpassed the predictions of the Wall Street analysts...
I just picked up the new 3G S on Friday. It’s a great phone. And I was able to do the upgrade for the full discount on the 32 gig model. Yep, even though I have been with ATT Wireless less than a year.
and ATT still sucks.
Amazing device.
I’ve never been a fan of anything Apple except the iPods, but the iPhone is an outstanding piece of hardware. The 3G-s even more so.
First class design team.
If they would open the carrier selection they could probably make that 10 million.
I have a first generation iPhone. Got it shortly after they came out. Would I qualify for the discount for the 3GS? Sure hope so.
You would have no problem. Even 3G owners are being allowed to upgrade for the discount if they got their phone in June through September of '08... and some are reporting even later.
Anyone have experience using phones as a wireless external modem for 3G, Edge or EVDO as primary internet access? I’m thinking about the possibility of doing this and am wondering if anyone has any tips.
I am not sure ... does AT&T allow tethering yet?
The AT&T guy says they do and quite a few sites indicate that as well. I'm not tied to AT&T and will consider Verizon or Sprint as well.
They haven’t officially started tethering support, but AT&T says it is coming soon. There are a number of sites that have a How-To on tethering, however.
There is no doubt that the AT&T agreement has been a drag on iPhone sales however. Imagine if customers were not locked into AT&T - I doubt Apple would have the manufacturing capacity to keep up with demand if customers could use the iPhone with other services like Verizon.
I was with Verizon until last August. To be fair, I do like the rollover minutes program that AT&T offers.
