WLW podcast....Willy Cunningham
Sorry, because I wasn’t too clear... the problem with podcasts is that most of them require you to become a paid member of the show’s group and I can’t afford that
I can’t help you with XM radio......I just listen to my local talk radio station and if I can’t get that signal.....I go to RUSH on my iPOd.....
Better yet, why can’t somebody make a car radio bright enough to shift to classical music during commercials on talk radio and then shift back when the commercials were over??
Until you can affordably get wifi in your car, you are left with either podcasts or satellite (or a good schedule of stations).
You can stream audio from radiotime.com if you are web based. Many hosts are found there with different broadcast schedules.
And yes, it is a new trend that all of the syndicated hosts offer a “members” podcast for download. Rush may have been the first but the pack followed his lead.
It’d be nice if townhall or one of the other networks that syndicates a number of hosts offered a bundled discount on podcast access.
Well, you could take Mrs. Lucky along with you. She’s as conservative as it gets and she never shuts up.
If you just wanted conservative TALK wherever you go, just marry. Odds are, on long trips she won’t shut up.
Does anyone have a solution?
Paying to listen to radio may be your first problem if money is a concern. I would rather have money, but not be able to listen to radio, then to have radio and no money.
Gee just give up a Big Mac and fries one day and you can afford the two bucks! Problem solved.
Digital internet radio will give you all the free talk radio you need, and from all over the world—but only if you are in range of WiFi. So you’d really have to be at home (or some other place with free WiFi) to enjoy it.
A few years ago before radio shows started podcasting I used a RadioShark.

It is a AM/FM receiver which connects to a computer via USB and can record broadcasts into audio files for later playback. Somewhat like TIVO but for radio.

There are a number of programs out there that will allow you set your computer up like a VCR to record an internet audio broadcast.
I use ‘Total Recorder - Professional Edition’ (http://www.highcriteria.com/). It was $36 two years ago. At a selected time, it will start the internet up, tune in to WABC (Rush’s flagship station) and start recording. After three hours, it stops recording and closes the internet. I set it up once, and its been recording Rush 5 days a week for almost two years.
When I come home at night, I transfer the mpg file to my iPod so that I have 3 hours of Rush for my morning and evening commute the next day.
I use this very frequently. Perfectly legal and ethical...I get all the internet commercials along with the content on the audio.
If you have iTunes you can download free podcasts from a number of political shows and listen to them at your leisure. Of course, that presumes that you have a laptop for when you travel.
For the most enjoyable talk radio experience when on the move, nothing beats a laptop, accessible WiFi, an iPod and a subscription to the talker’s website (wherever applies). Before I start off on a road trip (4+ hrs each way) I stop listening to Rush for a few days before the trip. It’s difficult, but what must be done must be done..
We could start encouraging Liberals to continue to abort themselves.....
