I currently have a subscription to XM satellite radio. They will soon be increasing the rates $2 per month because of a pass through of royalty rates. I am a grad student and as much as I love the radio, I am not sure I will be able to afford these new rates.
One of my favorite things about the radio, however, is that I get to listen to America Right which gives me 24-7 conservative talk radio with a perfect signal and from some of my favorite names in the business (Beck, Hannity, Levin, Wilkow etc.). Any idea how I can still get uninterrupted conservative talk in my car? my problem is that i drive a lot and used to go through the AM stations but they usually die out.
I have an IPOD which I figured might be useful to put some podcasts on but it seems that (besides Levin) I cannot find any conservative radio hosts besides Boston's WTKK local hosts (Michael Graham, Jay Severin)..... even Limbaugh requires you to pay to be in his special group.... any help at all about what I can do would be greatly appreciated
There are a number of programs out there that will allow you set your computer up like a VCR to record an internet audio broadcast.
I use ‘Total Recorder - Professional Edition’ (http://www.highcriteria.com/). It was $36 two years ago. At a selected time, it will start the internet up, tune in to WABC (Rush’s flagship station) and start recording. After three hours, it stops recording and closes the internet. I set it up once, and its been recording Rush 5 days a week for almost two years.
When I come home at night, I transfer the mpg file to my iPod so that I have 3 hours of Rush for my morning and evening commute the next day.
I use this very frequently. Perfectly legal and ethical...I get all the internet commercials along with the content on the audio.
If you have iTunes you can download free podcasts from a number of political shows and listen to them at your leisure. Of course, that presumes that you have a laptop for when you travel.
Bravo, Red_Devil! That's couch cushion money!
I wish my problems had to do with coming up with two bucks! :-)
I myself subscribe and pay for Jerry Doyle.. he is WORTH the fee..
Actually its $24 ($2/month) and I never eat out, even at McD’s... I am basically living off of student loans and scholarship $$ plus the small amount I get for my summer/part time school year job
Don’t talk radio podcast fees qualify as tuition?:)
For the most enjoyable talk radio experience when on the move, nothing beats a laptop, accessible WiFi, an iPod and a subscription to the talker’s website (wherever applies). Before I start off on a road trip (4+ hrs each way) I stop listening to Rush for a few days before the trip. It’s difficult, but what must be done must be done..
I forgot Bose QC2 headsets. You don’t want to be listening to the sound of your engine or traffic when you are driving and listening to Rush.
When I read your post, I went to update and pay for our 2 radios. The way I was reading it, I was going to lose my discount on the second radio. I called and was able to keep my same rates. 142. 00 for the first and 98.00 for the second. I pay yearly so the new 2.00 fee does not apply to us. We’ll be adding a third radio next week and will get to keep the discount on the new radio. The website was not accurate. Talk to a Rep.
“Well, you could take Mrs. Lucky along with you. Shes as conservative as it gets and she never shuts up.”
That is quite a generous offer.
The college kid may determine he cannot afford the monthly maintenance and decline.
If so, will you send a photo so I can see if the unit will fit in my auto?
This could work out well for both of us.
We could start encouraging Liberals to continue to abort themselves.....
All of my photos of Mrs. Lucky are derrogotypes and they don’t e-mail so well.
And Mike McConnell.
mark levin’s podcasts are free - his entire web site is free
Couldn’t agree more... im thinking maybe thats why podcasting wouldnt be such a bad alternative for me since it would allow me to fast forward through the commercials at least
Your is undoubtedly the funniest line I have ever read on the entire Internet.
Thanks. LOL
