I think it would be quite ironic if one was to end up finding oneself in a situation where it became necessary to “hand” this knife to some member of the upcoming “Obama Civilian Defense Force” blade first.

Its just a knife...no different than a gun belonging to a murderer. The knife didnt kill Jews just a like a gun doesnt kill people , people do.

I say sell it as is to a collector and do something good with the money like send it to the Holocaust museum or ....me.

We have a few items that my Husband’s Grandfather brought back from the Aleutians. One item is a Japanese bayonet.

We wouldn’t think about selling these things.

It is a piece of history. Young men and girls ( including Pope Benedict) were forced to join the Youth. This could possibly have a hell of a story behind it.

If you don’t want it, there are plenty who realize and appreciate that it is a small piece of our history.

I have one identical to that. My Grandmother gave it to me about 35 years ago. She said her brother took off of a dead German in WW II.

Tell your friend to get a grip. If he/she is living in the United States and can sleep at night, this ain’t no big deal. A very good chance that this is an outright fake, or a post-war souvenier assembled out of stocks. They also made/make them today, so chances are slim that you’ve got the real deal. Who knows, if it is, you ought to be able to get a few hundred bucks - don’t go cleaning it, though . . . original patina and all.
