E-mail to my brother: "Mom brought home a knife with a swastika on it today that one of her hospice clients was sending to good will. It turns out to be an authentic Hitler Youth Knife with the original sheath:
"I don't want it in the house. I could clean it up and sell it on ebay... I could keep it until one of Obama's youth corps shows up at the door and hand it over to them with a good explanation. Don't know if you would want it. Its interesting for something like this to turn up at a time like we're in. And honestly, its making me feel uneasy. I'm not going to be able to sleep with it in the same room."
I will take it ,just let me know and we can make arrangements
Good luck!
It's just a knife. Thousands of Americans can sleep comfortably with a Mauser or SKS in their gun rack that may have actually been used to kill an American in the past. Is it the swastika?
How much do you want for it?
I’ll sleep just fine with it.
I think it would be quite ironic if one was to end up finding oneself in a situation where it became necessary to “hand” this knife to some member of the upcoming “Obama Civilian Defense Force” blade first.
I have a feeling the irony would be lost on the Obamessiah, though.
Sell it and use the money for a good cause, donate it to charity if you don’t want to profit from it.
Maybe you can find someone to take it at the next book burning you attend.
Do you suspect it is a reproduction?
It looks “old” to me, in the photo, but photos can be deceiving.
I say sell it as is to a collector and do something good with the money like send it to the Holocaust museum or ....me.
Knock the swastika off it and replace it was an Obamalogo. Then you will be right up to date with it.
Nazi memorabilia can’t be sold on eBay by the way. The Political Correctness Nazis can’t stand competition from real Nazis.
We have a few items that my Husband’s Grandfather brought back from the Aleutians. One item is a Japanese bayonet.
We wouldn’t think about selling these things.
It is a piece of history. Young men and girls ( including Pope Benedict) were forced to join the Youth. This could possibly have a hell of a story behind it.
If you don’t want it, there are plenty who realize and appreciate that it is a small piece of our history.
I have an original brought from a dead Nazi by My Father in Law who fought in Eurpoe in WWII
I find it odd that she would think of that. Is it meant as sarcasm or does she really expect the youth corps to show up?
I have one identical to that. My Grandmother gave it to me about 35 years ago. She said her brother took off of a dead German in WW II.

Tell your friend to get a grip. If he/she is living in the United States and can sleep at night, this ain’t no big deal. A very good chance that this is an outright fake, or a post-war souvenier assembled out of stocks. They also made/make them today, so chances are slim that you’ve got the real deal. Who knows, if it is, you ought to be able to get a few hundred bucks - don’t go cleaning it, though . . . original patina and all.
