A rep for the Phoenix Police Department has just released the following statement regarding Mike Tyson's 4-year-old daughter:
I was just advised by investigators that Exodus Tyson was pronounced deceased at 11:45 AM today at the hospital. Our sympathies go out to the family.
Paramedics were called to Tyson's Phoenix home at around 10:30 Monday morning when his 7-year-old son found the young girl hanging from a treadmill by its power cable.
Tyson's reps have no comment at this time.
Amen.
Things are just too hard to understand sometimes!
It’s great to see that the comments thus far have been heartfelt and sympathetic toward the family.
Such a sad loss for the Tysons.
Horrifying...I cannot imagine what parents feel when freak tragic accidents like this happen. You turn your back for a minute - sometimes just a few seconds if there is a choking hazard left about.
It almost happened to me.
I was waiting for my Dad to come home from a two week stint on Air Force Reserves. I was standing in the back bedroom on top of the cedar chest and carelessly wrapped the venetian blind cord around and around my neck.
Suddenly I saw Dad's lights and jumped off the cedar chest to run to tell Mom. There was a little bit of cord left as the blinds snapped up to the top, then the cords tried to unwind and gave me two deep ligature marks around my neck.
I could easily have been hung, as there were 4 strong cords, fortunately I did not tie it.
The deep wounds were slow to heal and I was questioned at school.
Amen.
It can happen so easily.
My daughter was about 4 years old and playing with the venetian blind cord while I was making the bed.
I turned around and she had fallen, the cord holding her by the neck. Thank God I was right there and grabbed her, but I could easily have been in another room, as this poor mom was.
My heart goes out to the Tyson family. This is devastating beyond words.
Prayers up!
“A parents worst nightmare.”
Yes indeed it is...I’ve been where the Tysons are now. The feeling of standing over the grave of one of your children can not be described unless you’ve experienced it first hand —and I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy.
...prayers for their family.
Isaiah 11:6 “And a little child shall lead them.”
One of my worst memories was an autumn Sunday afternoon when I heard the women screaming in the courtyard of the garden apartment. There were several single women there who worked nights servicing the Charleston Sailors. they were screaming their heads off.
I ran out to discover the 10 year old son of one of them was dead. He had been playing with a rope and somehow hung himself. The youngest of the working girls discovered him hanging and ran inside to get his mom. She came out and then ran back for a knife to cut him down. She got a dull knife and sent one of the other girls back for a sharp one and she tried to get him down.
They literally went crazy as they dithered. I was right inside and could have not only cut him down but administered the necessary first aid to likely have saved him.
Alas I never got the chance.
Prayers for the Tyson Family.
Prayers and condolences to the family.
Thanks for your response.
If I had tied that cord, or it didn’t unwind and give me that terrible burn, I would have been dead by the time Dad got in the front door. And I wasn’t four, I was about 12.
There should be a better way.
Very sad,. Mike is and always will be a tragic guy. By sometimes fault of himself, but not always. It seems to follow him.
Yup - something as simple as two cords not joined at the ends, but hanging loose, would help. Two loose cords won’t make a noose.
Very, very sad. My prayers are with them all.
The brother that found her was only 7.
May this little girl rest in peace, and may God comfort her parents.
My deepest condolences and sympathies go out to the Tyson family.
