CLEVELAND (AP) The sister of an Ohio soldier killed in Iraq was ticketed for speeding and missed a ceremony awarding him a posthumous Bronze Star and Purple Heart.
The ticket was issued by a state trooper to 25-yearold Rebecca Davis of Cuyahoga Heights along Interstate 77 on Thursday despite her request for a warning and to call and confirm her situation.
The ticket was withdrawn about three hours later when a State Highway Patrol lieutenant went to the funeral home and apologized. A relative of Davis, who is a police officer, had called to complain about the ticket.
She was ticketed heading to an award ceremony for 21-year-old Spc. Brad Davis of Garfield Heights, who was killed last week in a roadside bomb explosion in Iraq. Burial was planned for Friday
(Land of the free - my ass!)
And the cops wonder why everyone hates them...
Cop haters look for every excuse.
BTW, what was her speed?
Yes and why didn’t they have a nice long search under her seats and in her trunk?
Bring on the K-9 unit!
It ain’t about hating cops bub, it’s just another example of Fascist Jackboot Training for Dummies.
Don’t forget to pick up your copy.
Probably less time than it would take for her to sign the ticket.
how fast was she going?
That's exactly what it is.
its just another example of Fascist Jackboot Training for Dummies.
Exhibit #1.
Correction: Probably more time than it would take for her to sign the ticket.
No, your first post was correct. Did you just come on here to argue or is there a coherent, VALID point in there anywhere???
Cause you arguing isn’t changing anyone’s mind, it’s not doing anything but arguing maybes.
If you don’t like what she did, well, she was punished well and good. So you don’t have to stay and just argue unless you’re trying to rile everyone up for your own purposes, and I acknowledge that there are people who like drama and chaos.
Exhibit #1 (you)
Cops get stories, lies, and excuses thrown at them liberally
all day long. Its not their job to be chasing down and verifying stories revolving about simple things like red lights and speed limits.
Then the whole thing never would have happened.
Since I slow down when the school caution lights are flashing I get to notice all the ladies with kids blowing past me way over the speed limit.
Then again, to some people traffic laws, to include red lights, are for chumps.
So if you are sitting in your car, and an officer says “You either sign this ticket, or I place you under arrest and tow your vehicle”, then you are saying the person signed it knowingly, willingly, and voluntarily?
There was no duress involved?
If I were to outfit my car with spiffy lights, have somebody make me a nice set of duds, and pull you over with a .40 strapped to my side are you gonna tell me to F off?
Your arguments basically amount to “What? You don’t like the NY Jets? You’re guilty!!!”
she should have left earlier
I certainly don't nor do I know anybody who does. Exactly what did he do wrong? She violated traffic laws and he issued her a citation for it. He didn't cause her to miss the event, she did.
Yep.
Not among the hysterical cop haters.
1. How long does it take to write a ticket? A lot less that the length of the ceremony. She was apparently going to miss most or all of it. The ticket was an excuse.
2. It takes about two seconds for her to sign the ticket. It would have taken minutes, at least, to confirm her excuse.
3. How fast was she going? [crickets]
Yep. Instead of putting everyone else on the road at risk for her sake.
I missed that in the article.
If what the cop did was so good, why the hell did they apologize?
