Tonight's crescent moon is surrounded by a blue circle. I noticed it while going outside to move tomorrow's garbage. I then put on my distance glasses and could see a red stripe within the blue. I suspect it is a really high cloud with moisture that is getting sun. We are in Pittsburgh, so it may not appear the same for all.

I’m only 30 miles from Pittsburgh and it’s a little overcast and still daylight here in the SF East Bay (Contra Costa). Can’t see no stinkin’ moon. What kind of drugs are you on and why aren’t you sharing. No electrons were hurt making this post.

It looked like that last night too. I have never seen the crescent moon look like that. It is very unusual.

Last night you were able to Mercury near the Pleiades constellation to the lower right of the moon. I saw Pleiades but didn’t know Mercury was there, I went to look tonight and didn’t see either.

Last night you were able to Mercury near the Pleiades constellation to the lower right of the moon. I saw Pleiades but didn’t know Mercury was there, I went to look tonight and didn’t see either. Actually last night I saw Mercury but not the Pleiades. Mercury is very low, it takes to the western light to dim enough to see it ~8:20pm.
Here's a pict I took last night at ~8:40pm
I didn't know the Pleiades were there until I got home
Here's the wide shot on how low they were
SO you really need an open view to the WNW to see Mercury

The Earth is reflecting sunlight back at the moon. So the sunshine in California probably contributes to the Pittsburgh blue moon.
