I’m starting to think that she’s wearing her belts that high to keep her alien chest-burster inside her.

LOLOLOL.

By the way, we aren’t the only ones having an issue with “The Belt”: From DU:

6. I love these!

Now I’m going to get flamed, I would like for someone to steal all her belts, and never give them back!

This is coming from someone who wore their belts like that through a better part of the 80s.

11. Actually I lived in the eighties, and never saw belting used that way. I think it is a disservice to all involved for her to wear them like that. But, she does not wear the drapes, like Scarlet or Pickles did, and she is a wonderful, sensitive, caring, involved First Lady of the US and I love her.

So - I’ll ignore the belts, but geez........

13. It reminds me of those back-strain things warehouse guys wear Great outfit if she loses the belt, or maybe take it DOWN to hip-level....why is it so HIGH?

7. Well, I don’t like that high waisted belt thing.
I love the first pic behind the podium....where you can’t see the belt!

Looks like everybody’s having fun. Love our First Lady!

9. I think this is her “Star Trek” belt that Barack makes fun of

She wears it well with other outfits, but I don’t think it works on this one. Love the sweater though...and her willingness to have fun with fashion in general.

For such a “fashion trendsetter” I don’t see many women copying her “look”.

I have never seen a woman wear a belt in that way. I’ve never, that I recall, seen a woman wear a belt over a cardigan sweater. Clearly this is her “signature” piece, and her “unique” style, and we’re just going to be stuck with it, even though it’s both unflattering and stylistically idiotic.

I have seen teenage girls in similar belts. They general wear them low, below where their waist would be if they had a waist, around the top of their pants but not holding the pants up or anything ... just sitting there.

Yeah, a low-slung, sideways belt kind of 80’s style, yeah, but OVER the sweater, right up to the underwire? WEIRD.

Only the belt isn’t around her waist, it’s on her chest!
