U.S. President Barack Obama arrives to make remarks on a proposed high-speed rail system in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building in Washington, April 16, 2009. President Obama outlined his plan for developing "long overdue" high-speed rail on Thursday that would rival air travel, create jobs and help curb the U.S. transportation system's appetite for oil.

Center of the universe, not middle of the nation.
There was a /sarc tag, btw.

Hell make the trains run on time.
Well played!

Yeah, the map is fascinating. Almost everything cross-country goes through Chicago.
In addition, what makes Pres__ent 0 think that, once he subjects train passengers to the same idiot unionized TSA shakedowns as airline passengers get now, that trains, even if built, will be a viable alternative to air travel?

Biden (thinking): Oh great... yet another briefing with me in the background
Biden thinking: I'm SO SICK of being in his shadow!
Obama: "Yes... My ears are so sensitive, I can even hear my vice president behind me frowning"
And you dont get to be president without knowing what is going on around you, AND WHY...
So I'm going to let him answer the next question.
old man: "What are you nuts??? you know he's just gonna Gaff again!"
Biden: "You sir... in the back... your not in a wheel chair are you?... What's your question?"
Answer from audience:"Where is Obama's birth certificate?"

Obama's "recovery plan" is firmly rooted in FDR's great depression extension plan. He's hellbent on leading us into the 21st Century with a 1930's model. I can only assume that he will next rollout an insanely expensive plan to get the dirrigible industry geared up for a new era in transportation!
Sure, it won't work and will cost much more than anticipated, but hey, "Billions for Blimps!!" is kind of catchy!

I frequently took trains in the UK. It was fairly convenient and less hassle than driving. However, I didn’t have kids and the UK is just a little smaller than the state I live in. No way I’d use FAILRAIL in the USA unless I retire and don’t have anything else to do with my time.
