I'm just curious. Does it matter that to anyone that I don't fill in the "source" part of posts? Is it not enough that I give the URL? Does anyone except pissant give a damn?

It seems to me that a clear indication of the source has a LEGAL (IANAL) implication on FR, there are legal restrictions on posting from various sources and if the sources field is empty or obfuscated with an unreadable URL then the mods and others don’t know whether this is a LEGAL and proper post.
Also: Always grasp things by the smooth handle -Thomas Jefferson.
Me neither: If I need to view an omitted source, I copy a key phrase and Google it.
We're smart enough to give some slack to a newbie.

Source url will allow people to verify the story. Some people post phony stories or plagerized versions, by posting the url we see where the information came from
Okay, I spotted your rant... so I went back and looked at some of the posts. And yes, the Free Republic form has blanks to fill in. The easy answer is fill in the blanks and give the information. The blank spots in the “form” are for filling in. They wouldn’t be put there just so you could leave out all the information.... LOL...
