BOY dad Alfie Patten yesterday admitted he does not know how much nappies cost but said: I think its a lot. Baby-faced Alfie, who is 13 but looks more like eight, became a father four days ago when his girlfriend Chantelle Steadman gave birth to 7lb 3oz Maisie Roxanne.
He told how he and Chantelle, 15, decided against an abortion after discovering she was pregnant.

“When boys as emotionally and physically child-like as Alfie start creating babies, its the thin end of a wedge that will break the existing cracks in society so wide open that therell be no hope of repair”
and yet if they’d smashed the baby’s head in, there would have been no story, no “outrage”, no “wedge”
It’s just page-filling material to sun hacks. Like shooting fish in a barrel
That picture makes the story. That looks like a big brother.
The irony is that they’ll probably be better parents than their own.
“The irony is that theyll probably be better parents than their own.”
The bar seems to be set pretty low so it shouldn’t be hard.
He reminds me of my nephew. My nephew is 4.
Does not deserve a “headline” on FR.
Let Greta go after this. I am more interested in saving our Country then a kid fathering a baby.
Jim, whack this post ASAP. I don't think this is what Free Republic is about. Want this kind of trash buy the National Inquirer.
Apparently you don’t have any 13 year old relatives.
If you’re interested in saving your country, then you should know that this is one of the problems on our horizon. The way the UK has gone in many respects is how we are going in the USA.
Grandsons and Granddaughters.
IMHO, these two kids will be going their own way in less than a year. Following their parent's footsteps.
I just hope the baby finds a loving mum and pop.
ABSOLUTELY TRUE!!!
I have a 13 year old nephew. He is my godson, and he has a haircut kind of like this kid. I can’t imagine him as a father but I suppose he’s old enough now to be one. I sent the story to my brother and thought it might be of interest to other parents at FR.
40 acres, a mule, keep the older busybodies out, and the three of them would probably be better off than most. ;-)
Things could be worse. When I first read the headline I thought it said: “Baby-faced boy is father *of* 13”.
Ok those of us that came out to support the Pro Life march about a month ago and are fighting against FOCA should see the all of a sudden media stories of Mom Octo and Boy 13 is pure propaganda from the mainstream media to try and say hey these stories are proof that the Pro Life supporters in our country are fanatics.
Think about it. Two really far far out of the typical style of Procreation/Marraige media stories crowd the headlines and now lets countdown to the Pro Choice FOCA supporters blamining these odd stories as the Pro Life Movements fault.
Thank goodness my sons have better sense.
I agree with you that the media will use these stories against us in the Pro-Life movement. However, while these stories may not be common, they certainly are not rare. I knew of several 14 and 15 year old girls who became pregnant at my daughters school. My wife has worked with disadvantaged children for many years, including a stint in the inner-city. Trust me, it’s not that uncommon. I really don’t have an answer as to how we should respond to these type of stories. This is just my opinion, but all of our problems boil down to a lack of morals and our turning away from God. I am not trying to be preachy, but until we get back on a good moral and spiritual foundation, most anything we as a nation do to correct problems like these will probably be futile. Abortions are evil, we should do all we can to prevent them. But, they are merely a symptom of our deeper spiritual sickness. We need to attack the spiritual darkness as well, they are the root of our problems. JMHO -—JM
> He told how he and Chantelle, 15, decided against an abortion after discovering she was pregnant.
The two years between 13 and 15 are pretty significant. That boy will have just entered puberty, and his “girlfriend” will have been in puberty for nearly five years.
Evidently all their “parts” are working just fine: perhaps too well.
I’m astonished his parents permitted him to have a 15 year old girlfriend in the first place. The only good news to come out of this is that the baby appears healthy and that these children decided not to have an abortion. So things aren’t as bad as they could be.
