I have noticed that FR has become abysmally slow in response and page loading in the past day or so. I've noticed a few responses in the threads where other Freepers mention in passing the slowness. I checked it on several of my client's locations. Everywhere I brought up FR was slow.
Sometimes takes up to 30 seconds to load the browsing pages. Moving to a topic, is a bit faster but not much.
I also noticed last night that doing title searches that used to bring up pages of responses now only bring up less than a page.
John, Jim, what's going on? Are we being hit by a Denial of Service attack?
About 20X slower for me. I assumed it was the boobama govt spying on us.
What chaps me is that there's never a word of explanation from the moderators when this happens. FR has been slow for almost a week now with absolutely no communication here to the troops. A word or two about what the problem is would go a long way to alleviate the frustration.
When there's no word from on high every one thinks his or her computer is on the fritz. This is so unnecessary.

Now that the new guy, BO, is in the WH....this is just the beginning of the attacks....I doubt it is equipment problems....bad people wanting to control the masses and their info.......I’d call ‘em soviets..........

I thought it was my computer. It’s been freezing up and crashing about twice a day for a week.
I thought it was just my computer issue as well.
I have. See my my previous post
Lol!
The old 286 still got some life in her yet, eh?
Years ago, back around 99, I sometimes dialed in with an old Toshiba laptop, running Win98. It was a Pentium running at 75Mhz with 16 meg of core and a 300 meg hard drive, on a 28.8 modem.
Worked.
Didn’t work very dam fast and got really hot, would take like ten minutes to bring up a web page, but it worked!
What would you recommend instead?
I’ve been trying to get in to this thread since ‘75

One toke over the line ...
It started right when the new Administration took over. Coincidence? I don’t think so?
On the other hand, how long does it make to make a sword?

Oh - a “Johnnie-Come-Lately”, huh??
I started out with an old 286 running WIN 3.1, dialing into local BBS’s (ya got the mimeographed list of dial-in numbers from your favorite hole-in-the-wall computer store) on a state-of-the-art 2400 (external) Modem....
Sometimes I miss those simpler days.....
It’s been incredibly slow! and the viewer access score no longer appears? why? It used to serve as a useful gauge of freeper interest in the story.
LIBERAL VALLEY??? Interesting...
oooh, that’s a keeper
Been there, dun that. But a plain text mode BB running sith senddata/rcvdata on a dedicated line is a big difference from TCPIP, graphics, and DHCP! Heck I was dialing in to work computers in the early 80’s.
Wow you sure know a lot. I only know I have dial up and an old computer. Runs windows 98 I get finger cramps from having to tap so hard on the keyboard. It is quite sticky as sometimes I eat while reading and posting.. :o(
Depends... since a word is sharper than the sword, on FR... about 30 seconds longer than it used to.
To make a real sword... also depends. I made about 30 swords for a college play about 40 years ago in just under a week. Would cut but they clanged good. Could hurt bad if they connected though.
Had’em since ‘84 Now using mac air with a solid state drive.... cool. Works well with this site. Just do a ping and get the 45 and you know if it is you or them.. most of the time its them but on the east coast where I am... All is well..
