Move over, Fluffy and Fido. There's a new batch of pet names in town: "people" names! Veterinary Pet Insurance (VPI), the nation's largest and oldest provider of pet health insurance, scoured its database of more than 466,000 insured pets to find the most popular dog and cat names of 2008. (Animals not insured by VPI were not included in the survey.)
But for those who like to think outside the (litter) box, VPI also came up with a list of unusual pet names, like Meatwad and Miss Fuzzbutt. The company's employees selected 50 unusual dog names and 50 unusual cat names, and then voted for the top 10 in each category. See which names were up to snuff.

This evening he chased kitty Malcolm up a tree.
I gave him "The Voice" and told him he had better not mess with my cat.
He scooted right into his house with an ashamed look on him.
Both of my cats have given names, appearing on their vet records. But I just say: “Hey, Sweetie!” and both come running.
Argon, and Betty Davis Junior. One is inert, and the other isn’t.
I had a cat we named Dammit! It was a couple of decades ago, but we did it!
You only have four cats? I don’t remember having only four. LOL! Been too long ago.
I don’t know that people realize we’re suckers, but our big barn seems to tell them we need a “mouser”. If they only knew!
Some cats obviously aren’t dumped close by but manage to find us. They’re in pretty bad shape when they arrive but we build them back up to good health.
It’s really cool that you get strays fixed up before taking them to the no-kill shelter. Every little bit helps and they certainly have enough expenses already.
It would be nice if more people were responsible pet owners. Then there wouldn’t be such a need for shelters - - - - - - - or for suckers. LOL!
Actually had cats named Tigger, Tiger, and Shadow.
My neighbor has a dog named Buddy, I call him nutty buddy :)
Ten kitties are a herd - - - - a manageable herd. :-)
And I can vouch for the fact that herding cats is as hard as it sounds. LOL!
And this is only a few of our herd.
If we had a bigger house with a garage I’m pretty sure we would have more. I’m a dog lover too but I’ve always been partial to cats. Spend enough time with them when they’re kittens and you can basically create what personality they will have. I have actually taught one of my cats how to fetch.
Iron oxide. Got it.
Cats are more intelligent than a lot of people realize. They can understand words fairly well. Sometimes our cats freak me out a bit, they understand so well.
The more you talk to them, the more words they understand. I talk to these critters all the time.
Dogs are the same way.
They all have different personalities, like people, and the more animals one is around, the more obvious it is. I’d say that working at the no-kill shelter, you see enough animals to see the differences.
Yep, we love the animals at the shelter just like they are ours. The shelter is actually pretty good and the animals have it made especially the cats. There is a couple of cats there that we think might be bi-polar though, lol.
I’d have trouble working at a shelter. I’d want to bring all the cats home. LOL! But we do try to help out by taking food and litter to the local shelter occassionally.
So I’m not the only one who thinks cats can be bi-polar? LOL! I think we have a couple of those here.
I have a dog named Little Dude. We just call him Dude. My grandson calls him Dukie. LOL
My dogs bark at 3am.
Wow!
I thought about that, and since it is the name backwards, did not think it fit.
Ha! We have some napkins with a drawing of a lab holding something torn in its mouth: “Hello, my name is No-No-Baddog, what’s yours?”
See post 98!
My friend had a cat named Frédéric Chopin because he was the pianist (peein’ ist) cat she’d ever seen.
Get it? peein ...
