If we had a bigger house with a garage I’m pretty sure we would have more. I’m a dog lover too but I’ve always been partial to cats. Spend enough time with them when they’re kittens and you can basically create what personality they will have. I have actually taught one of my cats how to fetch.
Cats are more intelligent than a lot of people realize. They can understand words fairly well. Sometimes our cats freak me out a bit, they understand so well.
The more you talk to them, the more words they understand. I talk to these critters all the time.
Dogs are the same way.
They all have different personalities, like people, and the more animals one is around, the more obvious it is. I’d say that working at the no-kill shelter, you see enough animals to see the differences.
OK - I’ve read through your exchange (I know it was from last night, but I only saw this thread this afternoon) and I’ve got to say I love you both!!!!
The most we’ve had at one time was 11, we are currently at 7 cats and 1 dog. The dog lives in the house and the cats just want in the house.
The cats are Gateway, Flip-flop, Tyler, Static, Tiger (a calico), Grey Ghost, and Scookie. The dog is Cinderella, who is generally called Cinder and referred to as just plain Sin.
We’ve also had dogs Sambuca and Anisette. Yelling “Stop that, Sam, you stupid black b!tch” did not go over real well in the neighborhood we used to live in.........
