I just saw 'Blazing Saddles' on CNNMSNBCBSABC

At least I think it was Blazing Saddles.

The story was a little bit different than the 1974 classic by Mel Brooks. But the plot was the same.

It begins with an idiot governor

And then the governor decided to appoint a black man

I thought for sure the appointment was designed to drive the racists in Rock Ridge out of their minds. But no - it was to drive the senators in Washington DC out of their minds.

Anyway, the new mayor (or was it senator?) heads off to Washington DC. (Or was it Rock Ridge?)

Where they are eagerly awaiting him….

But wait… Things are not looking so good for Sheriff Burris.…

In fact - Harry (Johnson) Reid and the rest of the democrat senators are a little more than just unhappy.

Here's Harry himself….

I fell asleep and missed the rest of the picture. So I'm not sure how this 2009 version ends. It sure seems an awful lot like the 1974 version though. It'll be interesting how this all works out.

How about Madame Pelosi in “I’m Tired”?

She can’t hold a candle to the magnificent Madeline Kahn!

Let’s face it, I’m pooped!

I suppose Burris’ difficulty through the doors of the Senate is equivalent to the toll-booth in the middle of the desert?

Many believed this day would never come, but in a few short days, an African American man will move from his private residence into a much larger and infinitely more expensive one owned not by him but by the taxpayers. A vast lawn, a perimeter fence and many well trained security specialists will insulate him from the rest of us but the mere fact that this man will be residing in this house should make us all stop and count or blessings - because it proves that we live in a nation where anything is possible.

Today, I  thank the Lord above that I am an American and that I live in a nation where wrongs are righted, where justice matters and where truly anything is possible.

Who is this man, you ask?

Mel Brooks would never be permitted to make it today.

I've been saying the same thing for a couple of yers now.

And while Mel B couldn't make this movie now, you can see the "black" version which wasn't made too long ago, and it's hilarious: Undercover Brother.
