Good evening, and welcome to the new week's thread.

P-E Obama must find a replacement for Bill Richardson, Sec-Commerce designate, who withdrew his name Sunday.

Israel continues its incursions and attacks on Palestinian terrorists, AKA Hamas, in Gaza.

And many of us regroup after a busy season with Family and Friends in December.

Hmmmm - why does this not surprise me. Anyone thinking she (CK) is qualified for any reason is beyond my comprehension.

Prayers requested for the family of Vyarl Martin. Vyarl passed away Sunday in a helicopter crash in Terrabonne Parish, LA. He was copilot aboard and they were ferrying 7 workers to an offshore rig in the Gulf of Mexico. While I knew both him and his wife, Kim, I am more friends with her than I was with him. Vyarl was an Army and Navy veteran. He was, at the time of his death, a Lt. Cmdr in the Coast Guard Reserves. We take comfort in knowing he had a relationship with Christ and he died doing what he loved.

Daffydowndilly

She wore her yellow sun-bonnet,
She wore her greenest gown;
She turned to the south wind
And curtsied up and down.
She turned to the sunlight
And shook her yellow head,
And whispered to her neighbour:
“Winter is dead.”

I had the same teacher for 1st grade and 2nd grade. She was an A.A. Milne fan..big time! Fond memories of his work. Her? Nope. She did not like me.

I'll never forget one incident.

I was out of school for a few days in 1st grade because I had the measles. When I returned, I sat in the reading circle like I always did.

We were told to read a paragraph..then the next person would read a paragraph...and so on.

Well, when it was my turn, I read and read and read. Sheesh! She was livid and slapped me.

Paragraphs were taught when I was sick with the measles.

I was 5 at the time. I was kindergarten at 4 years.

Lucky me! I had her for 2nd grade, too.

I have my 2nd grade report card with her statement....'for some reason I think lysie is afraid of me'!

Well, duh!

Oh! Mom and aunts confronted her and she denied it!

"Winter is dead."

Uh-huh.;-)

Well, maybe where you are.:-)

Let me show you what a couple of my windows looked like this morning.

I didn't take these pictures; they're from WeatherUnderground, and they were taken somewhere in Wisconsin. But the frost on my windows this morning looked very much like this.

Exquisitely beautiful.

Now, I'm sure there is a perfectly logical, scientific reason for the way this looks; the patterns, the symmetry, the lacy quality, etc. But to me.............it looks as if it had been painted by the hand of God.

I swear she looked like this only with a miserable, hateful face.

She was about 4 feet tall and she wore black 4 inch? heels.

I'm grateful for her alerting me to A.A.Milne.

The room I sit in to do this (freep) faces north and west, and those are the windows that always seem to frost over. I suppose we need to use some some weatherstripping or caulking or something to prevent it but to tell the truth I find myself just staring in awe. I would miss it.

I know, I'm a weirdo and a snow/winter geek. I can't help it.:)

We have storm windows on our (ahem) energy efficient windows( waste of money!). We get frost on the storms.

I never thought about asking Sarah to snap a pic, but I will.
