'My agony at losing my beloved boy': 'Heartbroken' John Travolta breaks silence over death of teenage son

John Travolta has spoken for the first time of his desperte struggle to save his son's life.

...John Travolta said he and his wife Kelly Preston were 'heartbroken' by their sudden loss.

'Jett was the most wonderful son that two parents could ever ask for...' the star said in a statement posted on www.travolta.com.

Touching: Travolta share a father-and-son moment with Jett

The statement did not refer to Jett's medical history or possible cause of death. But it offered thanks from the Hollywood star, his wife and their eight-year-old-daughter, Ella, for 'many messages of condolence from around the world.' As many of his Hollywood friends called to offer their support, the actor described the frantic efforts to revive his 16 year-old son Jett.

Tragic: Jett with his mother and sister

...'I did everything I could to keep Jett alive,' Travolta told McDermott. 'There was a slight pulse so we did all we could. I tried the kiss of life for about 20 minutes.I wouldn't give up.

'The paramedics took over from me when they arrived, and they continued. Jeff (nanny Jeff Kathrein) gave Jett CPR while I tried to resuscitate him.'...

Jett is rumoured to have suffered autism

A post mortem will be carried
out on Monday to establish the
cause of death

He def seems different than the rest of the Hollywood crowd. He seems like a nice person and not fake. I am so sorry to hear this. God’s love.

“Travalta is a really great big liberal”

Don’t forget about that photo of him kissing his “friend” on the steps of his plane.

Was very disappointed at the smear piece in the NYP today suggesting he was denied meds because of Scientology teachings.

Scientology's weird enough, but give them a break. They've just lost their son.

Travalta is a really great big liberal.

Scientologists in general are a coveted republican voting block, as they tend to be very pro-family and very anti-intrusive-government

Might be, but this isn't the occasion for politics...

That doesn’t make him a bad person.

Apparently he may have been both autistic and prone to seizures. I don’t know much about Scientology...but after the whole Tom Cruise/what’s her name incident over depression meds...would there have been anything in their religion preventing Jett from taking meds for the seizures?

How very sad. A parent’s worst nightmare.

He seems like he had some physical problems. In the photos I notice his hands and feet don’t look quite right. I wonder what his condition was?

So sad, I really feel for this family. I have often prayed that I never live to see the death of any of my children. It’s not supposed to happen this way.

I don’t see why this is newsworthy 20 times over on FR. A lot of parents lose their little ones to school buses, disease, crime, and house fires and each one has equal tragedy. Enough of this Hollywood worship.

Given their belief about souls or whatever they call them, being pro life stands to reason.
