"Columbo" star Peter Falk's daughter has filed court documents saying the award-winning actor suffers from Alzheimer's disease and dementia and she should manage his affairs.

I think that would be t-butyl mercaptan, the additive they put it natural gas to make it smell bad. Natural gas has no real odor by itself.
He was a retired Army MP Colonel and former center for the LSU Tigers football team in the 1930's.
They transferred him to the MP's because he couldn't fit into a Sherman tank.
He was also quite a stickler for being on time and properly attired.
When we went to dinner the first night of the trip, he walked into the restaurant, took one look around and bellowed, "Look at all the a$$holes wearing baseball caps indoors."
One by one the offenders sheepishly removed their caps while he stood glowering in the doorway of the restaurant.
The rest of the trip, I just picked up KFC and brought it back to the motel room for the evening meal.

He wasn’t disoriented in that photo, he’s sick of the press and people gawking and taking pics of him.
If your purpose was to correct Zuben Elgenubi's spelling/English, you are wrong. "Disoriented" is correct. Click this link to Merriam-Webster's defintion to see for yourself.
(I'm not certain, but believe that "disorientate" may be the British English version.)

Sad to hear this. Falk’s always been a favorite of mine, and I wouldn’t wish Alzheimer’s on my worst enemy.
BTW, for those that haven’t seen it, Falk did a great little comedy back in the 1970’s called “The In-Laws.” Alan Arkin co-stars, and it is a HOOT! Highly recommended for all Falk and Arkin fans.
Just be sure you don’t rent the 2003 remake with Michael Douglas by mistake (bleagh!)
Alzheimer's patient: "I don't want to take my shower."
Wife: "Why not?"
Patient: "Because then I'll be all wet."
Can't argue with that one either.
I went and read the story and someone posted a comment asking if he had family around and there was this comment posted in reply:
"Yes Bea, Peter is now very close with both daughters and his grandchildren. Alexandrina, Peter lives with his wife Shera in Beverly Hills (for 25+ years) and his daughters live within half hour by car, also he has a devoted secretary and many close friends, so he’s not out wandering around confused and alone. Peter Falk is very similar to his famous character “Columbo” which was created for him based on his personality and habits… like Columbo, Peter Falk is often preoccuied and may seem slow on the uptake, but he’s a deep thinker who’s brilliant actually; he’s a sloppy dresser unless attending an event but even in a tux, he might forget to tuck his shirt in or his tie might be askew. He also has a bit of a temper and that day, the constant harrassment by fans and photographers made him upset. Peter is 80 but still has all his marbles and he has a wonderful home and social life, and he still works on at least a movie a year, and in his spare time he’s an artist who paints or draws at least one new artwork a week; he’s always sketching, even in meetings. He told me recently that if he’d known how much free publicity he could get just by yelling at paparazzi, he’d have done it years ago. A friend said “But Peter that’s not very good publicity” and he answered “You know the saying, there’s no such thing as bad publicity.” So don’t worry anyone, Peter Falk is very much healthy in every way at 80, we should all be so lucky.

Great story we had to put my mom in a home dad could not handle her he was getting old too funny she smoked for 40 years got in the place and she was told it was no smoking she said ok never smoked again she got up most mornings and dressed for work like she did fo a gazillion years make up and all she has been gone 2 years miss her more each day
That is what I am doing now with my grandmother.... It’s gutwrenching, and not for the timid....
I was waiting for someone to bring that film up. Absolutely one of the funniest movies ever made. The scenes with Falk, Arkin and the Generalissimo are devastating. Especially the firing squad.

My Dad suffered from Alzheimer's, and while he didn't get colds, he had terrible allergies, which had never bothered him before.
When Mom finally decided she could no longer care for him, probably 1/2 a year later than she should have, he only lasted just under 3 weeks in the care facility. He hated it, didn't understand why he was there, and would ask when he got to go home. He didn't know much, but he knew he wasn't home, and when told he had to get better before he could go home, well he apparently knew he wasn't going to get better, and just gave up.
He got pneumonia over Easter, was taken to the hospital and given antibiotics. Then a day or two later my brother and mother took him to see his doctor for a follow up. He seemed to be doing fine and they even stopped at the house on the way back to the facility. Next day, he was observed sitting on his bed picking at his lunch, half hour later, he was gone. Alone with not even a stranger. That was hard to know. It's hard to write about now a few years later.
My father-in-law exhibited similar symptoms, but never got combative. He was diagnosed as having, and he continued to have, a series of micro strokes. Again, my mother-in-law was in denial, waited too long, and nearly did herself in. He never did make it to the local state veteran's home, where he'd at least have been among friends, because he passed on while waiting for an opening.
