Want a man to propose? Be a bitch In Why Men Marry Bitches, Sherry Argov says women shouldnt be so nice
Have you ever wondered what makes a man want to marry a particular woman? Is it about timing? Sex? Money? In her new book, Why Men Marry Bitches: A Woman's Guide to Winning Her Man's Heart, Sherry Argov shows women how to transform a casual relationship into a committed one. She explains that being nice to your man wont make him more devoted. In her interviews with men, Argov found that men want to commit to women who exude confidence and are in control of their lives. She was invited on Today to discuss her book.

“Sadly, some men in the world, mostly Democrat voters, will think that any woman who doesn’t act like a prostitute for free is a “bitch”.”
I’ve been called a b**** by too many jerks like that, they couldn’t think of any other reason why I was not falling to my knees in awe of their almighty crotch.
*barf*
And my friends wonder why I don’t date.
It’s been said that we unconsciously try to finish unfinished business with our parents
with our spouses
and our bosses.
Many folks—male and female—latch onto an opposite sex carbon copy of their troublesome opposite sex parent who gave them so much grief growing up . . . which was never worked through.
The only thing that ‘feels normal’ is to go out and latch onto a carbon copy of such and begin the sick dance all over again.
It typically happens the 2nd relationship and the 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th . . .
By the 6th or 7th, folks are tired. The relationships are not significantly better but folks are tired of starting over and more or less just put up with what they have or never try again, living alone.
Sad. Very sad.
Better to work the stuff through in therapy or some such.
Like everything else reported on MSNBC, horribly slanted and replete with falsehoods. The only thing missing was a low bow on Sarah Palin or a summary where Bush is at fault.
My own observations, including some family members, is that women who are b......s have a very tough time getting and keeping a man. They might date a lot, but the relationships have always broken up. Men like confident women, but they don’t like b......s. There’s a difference.
When I was single, my strategy was to watch how the lady treated the restraunt staff (or other service people). You can tell a lot that way!
First of all, you have to be able to pick the studs from the duds. Then, you have to play hard to get but not too hard to get. I do agree that you need to let them know you are interested but don't ever act like you'd sell your soul for them. I think this works both ways, though.
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahhahahhah! Nope not for a second. Ive been married for over 20 years to the sweetest woman in the world who I would die for. I dated the kind of critters in the article for years and used every one for what I could get out of them. People are shallow, most anyway and go by outward appearances or hopes of monetary gain. I was lucky on both counts and bimbos were something to play with nothing more or less. I would have NEVER given a second thought to marrying one, they are worthless.
What's your problem with the word? It has no more evil connotation than mare, sow, ewe, hen, or doe. I refer to my own female beagle as a bitch, since it's the correct term. She doesn't consider herself insulted. ;-) What kind of beagles do you have, BTW? 13s or 15s, hunting hounds or show or pets?
When a man sees you are happy with him but you can be just as happy having nothing to do with him, that's when he won't want to leave your side.
If I can be happy without him, why the heck would I marry him?
Wow. Our culture is devolving, isn't it?
The way the author describes a “bitch” appears to be an assertive woman. It’s not properly defined IMO. I’ll give my wife as an example. She’s 8 years my senior. We’ve been married for 13 years. She made a pass at me and I took the bait. The first 3 months were a roller coaster of fun!
As we kept going, gut check time had set in. She was twice divorced. She wasn’t sure her age would become a factor as the years past. She wanted to break it off, but I wanted a family. I’d made my decision to marry her within the first few days we met (she didnt know). Why? Call me a caveman, but she was a sensational cook, and she was very independent. She was assertive.
I don’t see bitchiness. I see a woman that can care for my kids in the unlikely event that something tragic happens to me. We now have 21 month old twins, 1 of each. This was one of my main reasons (she’s sexy too!)
This is also why men LOVE SARAH. She represents the ultimate wife/mom. It’s about a woman’s future mother skills. After all, the reason we marry is to have kids.
If you like her, she’s assertive. If you don’t like her, she’s pushy.
If you like her, she’s confident and in control of her life. If you don’t like her, she’s a bitch.
If you like her, she’s a free spirit. If you don’t like her, she’s irresponsible.
There’s a fine line, ladies (and gentlemen). Know where it is, and don’t cross it.
Recession: When the money goes, so does the toxic wife

I dated a number of women before I married the wife. The reason for marrying her was that she was not a bitch. The others were.
Ditto. I have zero tolerance to the bitch gene and a hyper detection device. I will not even hire them.
I agree with you there. I’ve been called a bitch before because I was a straight girl who expressed the completely radical thought that I didn’t need a man in my life to feel complete and I didn’t grovel and dress (and act) like a hooker to try and get one. And I didn’t mind it - they want to call me a bitch for being confident and having self-esteem? They can go right ahead, it’s only going to remind people that they lack the self-esteem and confidence to feel good about themselves without demeaning other people.
I don’t want a carbon copy of my mother. If anything I’d rather a copy of myself, but not an exact female copy of me.
I wouldn’t want to play any kind of games, even hard to get.
I don’t mean to say you’re wrong, but I thought the reason people marry was to give children a rock-solid base for upbringing and nourishment throughout their developing years, to have the nuclear family (not radioactive).
Any two people can produce a kid without marrying. Sometimes with one parent, the kid comes out fine. The other times, they don’t. And sadly, it happens far too often these days.
If access to sex is the driving element in getting a particular guy to commit... is that really the kind of a guy a woman would want to spend her life with?
