If you don’t mind my asking, what part of the country were you in? Texas area as well? I’ve never heard of it so I’m trying to figure out if it’s a regional thing. (I never knew until a couple of years ago that most parts of the country had never heard of sugar cream pie. That is SO unfortunate! lol)

You might very well be right about the lemon. I Googled it and many recipes called for lemon slices. :)

I will definitely pick up some Dr. Pepper tomorrow and try it!

one even whispered that she detested Dr Pepper in all forms!

That's a hoot! lol

Okay, you're on the hook for a recipe. :D

I hope you and your family enjoy the holidays in your new home. :)

We usually use whatever 100% cotton yarn I have lying around...I know you can buy special cooking string, but I don’t need to use it that often.

Just make sure you use a 100% cotton string. About 20-22 ply. That's what meat cutters use and I was in the biz for about 25 years.

Looks like that’s two reports from Texas. :D

Is it a common drink there? Sorry, I’m fascinated by regional differences. lol I didn’t know breaded tenderloins were regional until I heard the Monday Night Football announcers trying to figure out what they were during a broadcast from Indy.

if you want to kick up your squash, after mashing it and adding butter and brown sugar, try throwing in some crushed walnuts....unbelievable!......we discovered this by mistake one year, when my hubby thought crushed walnuts were brown sugar...

Actually, hot DP was more common several years ago...but never real common.

Where do you live? We "bread" round steak and veal cutlets...and fry it.

A friend and I were laughing recently about her MIL who fried everything in lard --(pig fat). It was so unhealthy that she lived to be only 101...and probably died when she started eating store bought food.

I'm in Indiana. :)

Do you smoosh (I'm sure there's a technical term) the cutlets out flat first? Everyone competes for the title of "Best Tenderloin" here. At our local grocery, you choose your pork loin from the meat case and they make your tenderloin while you watch. They are fresh and delicious and I don't even LIKE breaded tenderloins. (That's just between us... an admission like that is tantamount to rooting for OSU or UM.)

her MIL who fried everything in lard

My grandfather ate a lard sandwich for lunch every day of his life and lived well into his 80s. I'm convinced it's all a crapshoot. lol

You can reduce Dr. Pepper with spices and maraschino cherries to glaze your ham, it’s good.

The cutlets and steak are best run thru the tenderizer. They are put in egg and milk, then flour and fried. Our tenderloins are whole pieces of meat. Do you have pork chops?

My favorite Thanksging food is Ocean Spray cranberry sauce.. out of the can! LOL!
