Last night, during Austin Hill's radio show on 630 WMAL in Washington, DC, a caller named Max from Arlington (VA) called in suggesting that Americans grab their plungers (a sanitized one, please!) and march at the Washington Mall with plungers in hand and in support of John McCain and Sarah Palin and Joe the Plumber -- and to reject the Democratic Congress and also Barack Obama and his absurd tax policies.
I thought it was an excellent call and a great idea!
E-mail Austin at the link provided if you're interested in this.
At this VERY LATE stage of the game, instead, they should grab those plungers and head DOOR TO DOOR in their own communities, armed with recent phone polling intelligence from GOP as to who is committed GOP vote, and/or do literature drops, or stuff envelopes, or leaflet churches, bowling alleys and in parking lots, leaflet parked car windows, fan out at events and talk to strangers and family, rather than traipse off to D.C. at this very late date and walk around Capitol Hill (which is empty anyways because of the election and everybody is gone). The game is going to be won at the precinct levels all across the land, not in Washington, D.C. Conservatives generally do not turn out large D.C. crowds on issues--it will look ridiculous if it is just a couple of hundred down by the reflecting pool; they are best used at the next 2.5 weeks reporting for duty at their local party offices for Sarah non stop 24/7, or work out of their homes calling voters lists, anything, at this stage. I appreciate the enthusiasm, but I think it is missplaced. It is too late for this. Maybe bring those plungers--make them all plastic if need be, (if they let them in) to a massive Sarah rally, that might be better.
Obama should ride a snowmobile into Alaska with a dead moose and a rifle.
If the Million Plungers have serious looks on their faces, we’d be toast.
WE ALREADY HAVE THE VOTES TO ELECT MCCAIN/PALIN, WE JUST NEED TO GET THEM TO THE POLLS.
Turnout is what will win this election.
Today I’m taking my sanitized plunger and wrapping a yellow ribbon around it and putting it in my front yard with a sign that says, “We’re all plumbers now!
ROFL! I love it! I think it’s a great idea! “million plunger march!”
0bama looks like a “plumber’s friend.”
It’s nice symbolism to march with plungers, but we also need to clear the pipes of all the clogged up $#!t in DC while we’re at it.
“Conservatives generally do not turn out large D.C. crowds on issues...”
Do they ever turn out in large crowds for anything anymore?
By the time they figure it’s a good time climb down from their “high-road” high horse they will be met by a jackbooted Obama disciple and an AK-47.
They’ve been gang raped by their politicians during the past few weeks and they can’t even muster the courage to get angry lest we “look bad” to the moderates.
It’s “late” alright...
What we need is an ad showing 5-6 small business folks each looking into the camera and saying things like:
My name is Emma and I run a [cranberry farm]. My accountant says I will have to lay off people if Obama gets elected.
My name is Ed and I [build houses]. If you think business is bad now, wait for Obama’s tax hikes.
My name is Fred and I work too hard to see Obama come in and take my wages so he can “spread the wealth around” to his friends”.
etc.
Even if each spot was only 10 seconds, it would really resonate.
FWIW
There’s another Joe....
Joe the Plumber, of Knoxville, that is, says he’s less concerned about whether he gets a tax break if his customers still can’t afford to hire him.
Still, Joe Shanks, a licensed master plumber and owner of Joe’s Plumbing Service in the Cedar Bluff area, has followed the presidential campaigns the same as his much-quoted counterpart in Toledo, Ohio, who questioned Democratic Sen. Barack Obama over his proposed tax hike for those who make more than $250,000 a year.
Shanks said his business, which he jointly runs with his wife, Catherine, doesn’t earn the couple nearly that much income.
Especially lately, with business at about half what he usually handles, thanks to a flailing national economy that has left would-be customers skittish about hiring him.
“I can’t make money right now,” explained Shanks, who’s been in business for 25 years. “I’ve had to lower my prices just to get the job. I’m going for that cheap dollar - I have to.”
Shanks, an independent voter, said he’s supporting Republican Sen. John McCain, citing the official’s career experience in office as the deciding factor for him.
“I’d just feel more comfortable, confident and safe with McCain,” the plumber said. “McCain’s been there. Obama’s just not that experienced.”
Shanks likened the decision to a homeowner in need of a plumber - would you hire the guy who just got his trade license, he asked, or a seasoned professional?

I would say Sarah Palin is turning out huge crowds these days.....

Not exactly what I was talking about but at least there’s that.
There’s no real men out in front. This bothers me.
The left has an amazing success rate in taking over countries.
The right has no success rate in defending a country, that I know of.
It seems once it begins the “nice” right-wing lays down for the left. Even as much as to argue the same platform — however to a lesser degree.
Reagan went after TAXES. Today’s conservatives don’t get it. You have to argue AGAINST TAXES to keep them low not argue with the socialists about how big the “free money” check should be written for.
They lose because they don’t REALLY offer an alternative — just less “free” stuff. They can’t possibly win in this scenario. They give the argumement validity and credibility by arguing alongside the left — it’s madness.
The New Editor says this is just How the Left Works. And he's right. ‘Joe the Plumber’ is for sure getting ‘the treatment,’ that which happens when thou dost commit blasphemy.
So what happens to Mr. Wurzelbacher for expressing his views?
Reports in the mainstream media appear claiming that he is unlicensed (even though he doesn't need one as an employee of a business or as a contractor working on a residence), and that he apparently has a tax lien filed against him.
Not to be outdone, the Daily Kos published his home address for all the world to see.
The Democratic Underground just threw whatever they could at the guy.
Better think a little longer next time if you wish to criticize a Chicago Democrat running for president (or anything else, for that matter).
You might get ‘the treatment.’
Might? He's probably the phantom who didn't yell “kill him” at a Pennsylvania McCain-Palin rally, too.

UPDATE: Comment from MajicalPat that is worthy of main page inclusion: “They cannot destroy him. He is everyone of us.” Precisely. Have at it, Left. And stand tall, Joe.
