Yorkie, that is my recipe, except I use both crushed pineapple and sliced pineapple. Everything else the same. They almost fought over it at church. I brought a couple of pieces home. I have had the recipe for a long time. The used to be neighbor that I visited recently, is the one who gave it to me. I agree it is the best!

"Beautiful pic, and for some reason—Nicknamedbob your words have the cadence of “Three Bells”—to me, anyway!"

Hmm. I think it's more a visual corollary than one of musical or rhythmic cadence.

On the other hand, both have the "English Rhyming Cadence" of iambic structure, but they have different numbers of "feet" in the lines.

Rest assured, such songs, images, and cadences are buried deep in my subconscious, which obligingly brings them forth for me to set into rhymes.

LOL! I use crushed and sliced pineapples, too - (I like that extra fruit!), and, Shhhhhhhhhhhhh. Don’t tell anybody - I usually put an extra half cup of brown sugar over the butter, too!

My recipe was From Mrs. Roger Mumpower, Jaycee Wives, Mt. Vernon, Ohio. The original recipe is in the book, “Favorite Recipes of Jaycee Wives MCMLXVII”. (Of course I don’t read Roman - so don’t know what year it was published.)

But JC wives? What a coincidence, “JC” (Jaycee). (Or IS it a coincidence?) LOL!

Glad your dinner went well, and that you had leftovers!

What a blessed day we had at church today!
It is so comforting during these days of such stress and tension politically to find a solace with other believers coming together. I just LOVE this graphic Meg!!

Waving Hello to you all.

When I first got on Free Republic, a gentleman asked me if I was a member of the Jaycees. I wasn’t, but my husband was. It was a young man’s business association (club) or whatever and the ladies had a club called the Jaycettes. They met every so often and some won prizes. I remember my husband won the Spark Plug Award one year and some other that I can’t remember. It was a wooden plaque with a sparkplug attached and his name.

I just took my name from my initials.

This is what I say “you can’t have too much brown sugar”....
and I like a lot of cherries placed around. I halve my cherries do you?

That is the prettiest color on that graphic. It is a very unusual color.

Yes, I halve my cherries, and use almost a whole jar - because it makes the cake so pretty (not to mention the wonderful taste of those cherries)!

My husband was a JayCee (I think it means Jr. Chamber of Commerce), and they weren’t getting new members.

The membership committee decided that they needed some new ideas, to get new members, and came up with the idea to assign a baby pig to one of the long standing members. The idea was to deliver that pig to any member of the Jaycees, and they were to be responsible for that pig, until they got a new member - then they could pass it on to another member, (and so on.)

Well, my husband was the first to get the pig.

It was a nightmare! That durned little thing made a hole under the driping faucet in our yard, and ‘wallowed’ in the mud! It made the hole as large as a garbage pail, and the pig was covered with mud! It was a mess. Our dog hated it, and tried to attack it, but the skin was too thick to get ahold. (Thank goodness).

But, there was constant squealing, screeching, growling and barking from the yard.

Being the good wife that I was, I gave my husband two choices - either you get a new member for the Jaycees by tomorrow, or you move out. LOL!

The pig was delivered to another member that night. ROTF!

Dita..I am so sorry I missed you..Sounds like you are near some good places for outings. I am so glad you are enjoying your new home.
.My kittens have me up in the wee hours and sleeping in the daytime..They are nightowls like me...*Grin* I am gradually pushing “night time” to afternoon..It’s only been a little over a week since my daughter left so we’ll be straightened out soon.
I am learning better how to get them to wind down..Seeems turning out the lights and settling down on my pillow signals “party time” for them.
;o)
Hope your wildfires are under control..We are having great weather..hoping for rain midweek.

And just think, some people love pigs as pets and swear they are potty trained??? That would not be my choice for a critter.

The best I can remember about the Jaycees is that is was for the younger business man. It was like from a certain age to a certain age. But it was fun. They would have parties occasionally for wives, etc. Then later the Jaycettes were formed.....I don’t remember it being in existance when I was a Jaycee wife. Its a small world, isn’t it.
