Life According To Plumb
Your Word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You. —Psalm 119:11

Charlie Riggs has been called “the man behind Billy Graham.” For nearly 40 years, Riggs was the director of counseling and follow-up for Mr. Graham’s evangelistic meetings. In his counselor training classes, Charlie taught thousands of people the basic principles of how to live for Christ and share their faith with others.

At Charlie’s 90th birthday celebration, many tributes mentioned his lifelong practice of memorizing Scripture. His goal was not merely to know the Bible, but to know Christ and live by His Word.

Charlie followed Psalm 119:9-11, “How can a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed according to Your Word. . . . Your Word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You.” He likened the Scriptures to “plumb bobs” for his heart. Like the weight that holds a builder’s plumb line straight and true, these divine principles never change, no matter what the circumstances. He sought to measure his own thoughts, feelings, and behavior by God’s Word, not the other way around.

Charlie Riggs’ life was quiet and steady behind the scenes. His example challenges us today to hide God’s Word in our hearts and let it guide our lives. Charlie demonstrated what it means to live according to plumb.

The Bible will transform our lives
And turn us from our sin,
If we will read it and obey
God’s principles within. —Sper

The Bible: Know it in your head, stow it in your heart, show it in your life, sow it in the world.

Lovely Yorkie!!!!

Hello and HAPPY LORD's DAY TO YOU ALL!

Been very VERY busy with campain work & misc things at home that always seem to keep me overwhelmed

Did take one day out Friday to visit Fremont Ohio for day trip & the Rutherford B Hayes presidential Center. (I lived there in early 70s but never went through it). I took over a gig of photos & posting a couple here.. any one interested can see the rest of "posted pix" HERE. Be aware there are a LOT of pix of this size at the post if you have trouble with freeze ups etc.

Happy Lord's Day
Your sister will really enjoy them..I loved flannel blankets
when I had babies half a century ago..There was a lady
in my hometown who blanket stitched the hems and
embroidered little flowers in one corner..I treasured
them..

I know you will enjoy a new baby in the family..Closest I
have come is two cute kittens who run my life...and give
me smiles.

JC, I have made this pineapple upside down cake for over 35 years - it is so easy!

Easy Pineapple-Upside Down Cake

1/2 c. butter (1 stick)
1 c. brown sugar
1 1 lb.14oz. can pineapple slices (I have used crushed, too)
Marischino cherry halves
1 pkg. cake mix (yellow, butter cake or pineapple flavor)

Melt butter in 13 X 9 pan. Sprinkle brown sugar evenly in pan. Drin Pineapple, save syrup. Arrange pineapple and cherries (rounded side down), on sugar mixture.

Add enough water to pineapple syrup to make 1 1/3 c. liquid. (Or as much liquid as called for on the box.) Prepare cake mix according to package directions, and pour over fruit.

Bake at 350 for about 50 - 60 minutes, or until cake pulls away from side of pan. Let stand for 5 minutes to let topping set. Turn upside down on platter (or foil covered cookie sheet.)

Yeild - up to 20, depending on size cut, and if there are any greedy people taking four or five peices on their plate.

You’re welcome, and thanks again. I love how one leaf, or branch, will turn and everything around it is still green!

My grandad plowed with mules, loved mules til the day he died.

I finished the blankets and burp pads—did them on the machine—can’t do much handwork anymore. I sound like I’m ancient, don’t i? I’m not really, just did too much when I was younger! I was kicking myself long before I got finished—I should have stopped with one or two but there were so many gorgeous flannels to choose from! I’ve always found it easier to get too much than have to choose! LOL

So did mine..My mother spoke of the mules like loved pets..My dad used an old hand plow to plow his garden.

The whole ravine behind me is green..My pink dogwood is very colorful though.. We don't have best color until November with the red oaks..the rest of the deciduous trees may turn yellow or just fade and drop!

A Plea for the Mule

In history and poetry, in music and in art
The horse has been a favored beast and played a
leading part,
And while I don't begrudge him the fame that he
has won,
There's been too little said about his sister's long
eared son.

We praise the foaming charger and weave him in a
song,
But how about the humble beast that hauls the grub
along?
He snakes the heavy cannon o'er muddy field and
road
And is never known to whimper or complain about
his load.

In times of peace as well as war the mule is not a
shirk.
When Dobbin takes a balky spell, it's Jasper does
the work.
In many ways he proves himself much wiser than
the steed
He never takes an overdose of water or of feed;
And should he chance to run away when by ambition
fired,
He always makes his dash with care and stops be-
fore he's tired.

I know there is a prejudice against this humble beast
But those who hold him with disdain are they that
know him least.
Investigate his record with a calm, unbiased mind
And you will find, as I have found, that he has been
maligned.
For even men who hold him up to scorn and ridicule
Might learn a wholesome lesson from the humble,
patient mule.
__Albert Stroud.
