The Obama camp seems to be opposing McCain on this.

I think it is a good move, afterall they both agreed to remain as senators during the campaign, McCain is just doing his job at a time of financial crisis, they are worried he will get something done that makes him look good. Watch, he’ll probably even end up doing the debate if this gets fixed quickly. I think not doing it at all would be a mistake. Obama would love the time to bloviate all by himself.

My first reaction was ‘what the heck is he doing?!’ But, the more I thought about it, I thought you sly fox McCain..yarr genius. Obama says oh do more than one thing at a time but what can he do about this issue if he isn’t in the senate working on it? Make some statement? Then says he’d review it as if he would have any input after the fact? Obama doesn’t dare go and get in the thick of this because he’d be teleprompterless and lost. This is a chance for people to see each candidate in action, debating an issue, working on a problem, coming up with ideas. McCain goes to work and Obama goes to fundraisers. You tell me who’s going to come out on top on this one.

Just talking about the crisis in a debate Friday night is speculative and demonstrates theory only.

If McCain accomplishes something in Washington he shows he is more decisive than Obama.

Meanwhile he should put Palin in the debate! :-)

***Not. Oba-messiah looks more statesmanlike. he said something like “It is more important that we present to the American peopl our plans for this crisis”

Dirty harry reid sez Mccain not needed. Now what does Mccain do?***

From Obama’s statement - “In my mind, it’s more important than ever that we present ourselves to the American people and describe where we want to take the country and where we want to take the economy,” he said.

The debate Friday is on Foreign Policy not the economy.

"There Is A Problem, Let's Get To Work"

~McCain

"If You Need Me, Call Me"

~Obama

Who do you want as your president?

It is better for McCain to take the bull by the horns than to follow the bull hoping for droppings like BO.

McCain did call the Dems on that, the fact that the lame stream media doesn’t widely report what McCain says isn’t surprising. McCain has run ads about it and talked on the stump.

"Not,.. he’s going to push for the bailout against his own party. Siding with Democraps. People will see the REAL McCain surface!"

"Last Friday, I laid out my proposal and I have since discussed my priorities and concerns with the bill the Administration has put forward."

It doesn't look like he supports the bailout the dems are pushing.

The debate Friday is on Foreign Policy not the economy.

That would be like debating flood control during a massive drought.

They economy won't be kept out of any of the debates, regardless of how a debate was previously billed.

There is a problem.

McCain goes back to work.

Obama's response:

Call me on the line
Call me call me any anytime
Call me my love you can call me any day or night
Call me
Cover me with kisses, baby
Cover me with love
Roll me in designer sheets
I'll never get enough
Emotions come I don't know why
Cover up love's alibi
Call me on the line
Call me call me any anytime
Call me oh my love

Obama gives us Blondie.

I pray because I am not confident.

Boy, are you in for a rough 4 years. This isn't a campaign ploy, this is McCain pure and simple.

I'll admit that he is taking me out of my comfort zone but that is who McCain is and what he does. Expect more of it.

Sorry, I just listened to his latest statement. Full of crapola about “coming together” and “resolving the crisis”, “setting politics aside”.

The Democrats are solely responsible for all this. McCain’s job is to not let up until that is understood and let the message ring out like a bell.

Instead he just jumping head first into the muddy cesspool in Washington.

Disagree ... Obama already has the reputation for being all talk and no action ... this will cement that perception.

I think the risk is Obama's after his "if they need me I can be there". He painted himself in a corner with that one...no matter how the vote goes the American people lose, and his "not being there" makes him look like either...

1. he didn't care how it turned out and thus ignored his duties as a US Senator for his loftier political ambitions or

2. nobody in DC felt he offered anything constructive so why bother asking him to show up.

I agree with others, the media will smear it any way they can to benefit the messiah but they are both US Senators, and until one wins the Presidency they have an obligation to serve, in their current position, in a time of crisis.

One stepped up , the other stepped in it.
